Man, this is awesome, the car should be very fast after this. Those coil overs look killer, I might have to see if I can save up enough dough to get a set for the javelin.

Thanks,
Jon

Why would you change out a set up that clearly works? Especially when it's your design...

The 2 link rear set in Kevin's camaro worked well but as I said it has it's limitation's.It was desined to work for a guy on a budget. It work's very Good. But in order to Show up at an event and at the end of the weekend be faster than Brian Finch and Kyle Tucker we needed to make some small change's in the car.And when Bret Voelkel ask if we would be willing to try some new RideTech triple ajustable Shocks and 4bar how do you say no.Kevin was the one to say yes or no.We had talked about reworking his rear suspension so he could get more forward bite off the corner's before Bret came to us.And when he made the offer it was Kevin that said why not try it.It's more important to me to see Kevin do well than about me making money.I just want Kevin to do well and this was one more way of seeing that it happen's.Thank's Scott M.:lateral:

It will be cool to see it perform. Congrats.

BBC71Nova 06-15-2011 11:40 AM

Similar to the G-Link, will Ridetech be offering a setup that uses brackets that don't rely on the factory leaf pads? Interested to see how it performs. Should be very comparable to the G-link I'd think. Good to have options :)

coolwelder62 06-15-2011 03:46 PM

The install went very well.Everything fit real good. The Ride Tech coil over's are 1st. class products. They come w/everything needed to install them,Even the canister's clamp's.Will finish up the frt. shock install tonight, bleed the brake's and go for a test drive. Will let Kevin chime in and let you know how the car drive's after the complete change over. Then it's off to DesMoines Goodguy's for work out. Thanks to Bret Voelkel And the whole crew at Ride Tech for Everything and all the great help.Scott M.

I'll be interested to hear the feedback as this is basically what I'm running out back.

coolwelder62 06-16-2011 07:16 PM

The car is complete and driving.Rained all day so the roads were wet.But Kevin said right off the bat the car has a smoother and softer ride quality. We will need to get w/Bret V. and talk about starting point's for shock setting's.Kevin is going to drive the camaro to the Planes, trains,Auto's this weekend so he will get some more drive time.Thenhe can give more feed back on the street manner's,but will have to wait untill Desmoines goodguys, for all out performance.

millertime179 06-16-2011 09:30 PM

thanks everyone for following along with the install of the ridetech products on my camaro. So far im really happy with the way everything came out...the four bar kit fit really well and the shocks are top notch...very cool pieces. like scott mentioned the first thing i noticed was how much better the ride quality was on the road. I haven't got the chance to thrash on it too hard yet but so far it seems to handle really well and im anxious to get it on the autocross and pound on it. thanks again to bret voelkel and the crew at ridetech and also wanna thank scott for helping me with the install and Tom for helping with posting pics. will post more updates as i drive the car more and play with shock settings.

thanks
kevin miller

bret 06-17-2011 06:41 AM

I don't think I've ever seen my name used so much in a thread! :)

Don't thank me...you did the work. And you will be reporting back to all these guys on the results...good, bad, or indifferent. The good stuff is all assumed...we want [and need] to hear about the stuff that needs improvement...whatever that might be.
As I replied in my email a couple of days ago...shock tuning is VERY subjective. And it is also just one area of suspension tuning. Tire pressure, sway bars, driving style, track conditions ALL play a very important part of getting a car to go fast on a given day.
I am trying to work out to be in Des Moines myself...we can make some real progress there, although the limited amount of runs will allow only so much time to tune.

We are obviously very proud of the whole suspension, but especially the shocks. I wish I could take sole credit for developing these pieces, but in reality it was our military relationship with the guys at Fox Shocks that gave birth to these pieces. RideTech determined the dimensions, valving, and appearance parameters, but the internal architechure is Fox. They truly must be seen and felt to be appreciated. We have seven customers running at the Motorstate event this weekend...hopefully seven more RideTech shock desciples!

Glad you like it so far...now we'll make it fast!

And what are those upper trailing brackets for? (Mounts for the canisters maybe?)

Please call Darren Schilling at Ride Tech.Darren is a wealth of suspension info.He has been super helpful.I am sure he can answer any question's you would have.I belive RideTech has a weld-on lower rear 4 link bracket. That will work w/this system.I will look up the part number and poat it up for you. Thanks Scott M.

hey guys i thought i would post a little update on my camaro. i took the car to a local car show last weekend with a few buddies and had a great time and the car got a good response from the crowd. Like i said before i haven't got a chance to really drive the car hard but from what i can tell on the street the shocks have really improved the ride quality and street manners, but yet the car still feels light and nimble. so far i am super happy with the ridetech components and alot of people have made comments thinking im nuts for changing the setup i had because it was pretty fast the way it was but i believe the car will be even faster after we get shock settings dialed in. Im anxious to get to des moines and feel it out after all the changes. This week im going to do a nut and bolt check on the car and it should be ready to head out on thursday. If anyone here is going to be at des moines gg stop by the autocross and say hi.

Yes they will. You will need a coil over w/ a 4 inch stroke & 550#spring for an LSX style motor.Rde tech also sells the lower shock mounting trunnion you will need to mount the col over to the C-5/C-6 lower control arm.You need the wider version of the trunnon.
