Track Day! Buttonwillow / NCRC Sept. 17-18

The NCRC is putting on a two-day HPDE at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on Sept. 17-18. I'm going, along with a few Corvette friends. I'm not sure if I'll go for one or both days, but the price is very appealing. $99 for each day. That's a bargain.

So, who's up for burning some gas and tires?

Vegas69 06-23-2011 08:41 AM

Definite, maybe..:D

Track Junky 06-23-2011 12:53 PM

Ahhh.....this should be a good one. Think I might skip the July 30th Speed Ventures event for this one.

Track Junky 07-28-2011 02:01 PM

Had to bring this one up from the dead.

Our own Todd Akes(hope I spelt that right bro)has decided to join us at Buttonwillow this coming September 17th.

Aside from Todd we have a whole slough of avid enthusiast joining in the festivities including Mary Pozzi and Deanna, Kyle Newman, Jon Rasmussen, of course good ole Dave Gordon and Carl Casanova, My buddy John Sevilla and a whole bunch more.

15 are signed up and confirmed so far and it looks like Saturday night is going to turn into a good ole barbecue and camp out fest.(Not to mention a full on heater, lol)

Hope to meet more of you out there!! :lateral:

Vegas69 07-28-2011 03:43 PM

If Todd's going, I'm in...

Tom.A 07-28-2011 04:46 PM

What day are all you guy's going for sure? I think I might be able to make for one of the days. Also can you have a passenger ride with you on the track if they have a helmet?

Many are doing both days Tom. But I think the most will be there on Saturday for sure.

Gaetano should be able to confirm the passengers riding. I believe they can.

Thanks Guy's,

I am going to see about going Saturday. Looks like most will be in solo class. If I can make it this will be my first time so I will be in the driving school group for first timers as required.

Thanks Dave, I also look forward to meeting some of you guy's

I just signed up for Sunday as I can't make Saturday. I spoke with Dave @ NRC and he said that he would get an instructor to ride with me hopefully so I could run in the solo class.
How some of you guys are will be running Sunday.

Track Junky 07-29-2011 05:52 PM

Typically I drive home Saturday night but with the barbecue/campout deal going on I think I'm going to stick it out for Sunday also.

Not sure what I'm looking foreward to more, the driving or the barbeque and bench racing afterwards.

Should be a good time and I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

If we don't make the trip to Indy for the Goodguys show that weekend, You guys are welcome to hangout at the shop Saturday night. If I'm still the owner of my camaro buy then, I will join you at the track.

I already checked and the Air Force is busy that weekend, So Sorry Dave no fly by action that night for ya. Sorry I can only do so much.

Chad-1stGen 08-01-2011 10:49 AM

Hmmm. How about some video from Buttonwillow to wet your guys appetite?

here is a single lap from my phone. Has data overlay which is cool but is VERY shaky :/

Here is a different perspective. Lot less shaky since this is from my GoPro. No data overlay but the reflections in the quarter pannel are purdy ha ha

Track Junky 08-02-2011 07:12 PM

I finally got my new lower control arms and upper ball joints ordered. These new front vette wheels are driving me up the wall but I'm determined to make them work. Spent some time with Doug(Global West) on the phone today.

Scheduled a day at Thubderhill on th 12 of this month to flog the car.

I'll keeep you updated on the results!!

Ok Ok.... but if I was yelling it would in ALL CAPS!!!

Really hope you can make it... June is planning on going with her camera gear I believe. And you know how she loves Camaros. :unibrow:

Chad-1stGen 08-03-2011 01:01 PM

Well I did drop it off for mini tubs this morning. Told the guy to come up with some numbers to install the TCI stuff to for kicks. Between wanting it done quickly and some recent back issues we'll see if I can justify paying someone else to do what I could of done.

No matter what my wheels won't be ready so I'd either be running my current wheels (set in 1.5" each side in the rear lol) or not going already.

Nick.V70 08-08-2011 08:59 AM

Great vids!!

Where is everyone staying?

Charlie, this will probably be my last year running track days for awhile and I would love to come out and meet you at least once before I put my car back on the shelf. I may just sign up for this one.

Which car are you bringing?

My bad! Thought you said either either one. The Motel 6 CENTRAL is the correct one.

Sorry Captain., I have a 9, 11. and 12 year old that are growing to fast for me to keep up with and It's time to start dedicating more time to them.

I used to take Anthony and Nick to the NASA events because they had a mini day care deal at the track with a bounce house but I think being left alone too long turned them off.

If I could get them to regain interest maybe things will change but it looks like baseball and wrestling are taking precidence right now.

Nice another member with 3 kids, I am in the same boat with 3 kids and trying to make it all work to give everyone enough time. I have a 3, 6 and 12year old and I can see once the hit the 10y mark they don't want to be around mom and dad as a tag along as much as the younger ones. I commend you to molding around your children, its tough but well worth it as we have the rest of our lives to have our time once they go off on their own.

SOOoooooooo another family man semi taps out, found out last night I have a family event Sat night so pulling a 2day track day will not work for me. But I am a solder and thinking of pulling a day trip for Sun. What time will things be going on starting from and ending on Sun? I think it will work out better as a couple on my friends can also do a day trip more than a 2day with there family stuff they have that weekend.

Nick, I think a day trip would be very difficult to pull off. G or Carl can correct me if NCRC is any different, but the track days I went to had drivers meetings at 7:30am and on track by 9am. Finish by 5pm give or take. Plus half the fun of this trip is everyone staying at the Motel 6 and socializing Fri and Sat nights. Still hope you can figure something out!
