beautiful work, the front of the last car reminds me of the new F150 for some reason

there indoors already so is the top 5 already chosen?

They took them inside to choose the Top 5. They went in at 4pm, had 30 mins or so to detail, then everyone got kicked out. The owners could come back to get their cars at 6pm, and were to have them at the Awards area at 8am tomorrow morning. The Top 5 is supposed to be revealed around, or by, noon.

Goodguys Columbus

Goodguys will dot the headlights on the five finalists by noon tomorrow. The five will be brought into the building and the Saturday awards will take place at 5:30pm at which time the winner will be crowned.

Let me say there is alot of really good cars and getting down to five will be hard.

The AutoCross today for the Street Machines proved to us that we need to continue with this as we lost three cars today to coolant leaking and clutch problems. This is where the STREET part of this comes into play.

Fastest time today in the AutoCross was by Phil Gerber in the Chevy II that the Roadster Shop built.

Look forward to seeing the top five tomorrow.

What was his time? Also, what was the fastest vendor time? I saw a 34.??? by the lady in the 2nd-gen F-body, with the big flares, but didn't see the whole session. My nose led me to the SMOTY and SROTY cars after a half dozen or so vendor laps.

I really want to see more pics of the RS 67' Nova...:D

Dot patrol: If I get this I think I see the SMOY dots on Dragon, Innovator, and the gold Stang so far. There are pink dots on some cars, including Runt, but the yellow ones on the three aformentioned cars say Award Winner. Runt just got that dot. One to go...

The fabrication on these cars is just over the top crazy. Amazing talent involved. Good luck to everyone. And thanks for taking the time to post the pics!:thumbsup:

I believe they were edged out by the firebird on the third lap time...at least that is what was announced. Did they get an extra lap for some reason? Of course it doesn't really matter only for bragging rights:thumbsup: Great job to everyone, the autocross was a blast!

last i seen the chick from specter won the vendor class 32 something ? not sure she got edged out, she was fast, i got a ride with Finch, he was fast too, had an awsome time hope it will be good tomorrow.:lateral: :willy:

Thanks Greg, it was my pleasure. The quality may have been a little better if I had experimented with the settings, and paid more attention to where the sun was, but it was too hot and there were too many people. I also kept forgetting to clean my screen, and often had to work blind through my own fingerprints. I'm taking these with a little 12mp Nikon pocket camera, on auto and letting it make the decisions. See an opening in the gawkers - snap! :D

It's going to be in the low 90s today, with typical Ohio humidity, and no wind, plus there are air quality alerts for the entire Central Ohio region. All you old geezers better bring your O2! Wait, at my age, with my allergies, that means me! :lol:

Thanks for reinforcing the very reasons (heat, humidity) why I've choosen NOT to attend this show each year that I think about it.

The weather here is beautiful -- wish you were..... :rofl: :rofl:

I still quote the line Steve Rupp used when someone asked about what's the best camera.... His response: "The one you have with you".

Yeah your right. 32 something overall. I was referring to the fastest time out of the smoy contenders. What a blast! First
time I have driven an autocross. Now im hooked and ready to build a shop car and see if I can hang with the big boys...and girls!

It wasn't that bad. The weather guy was right about the heat, humidity, and air quality, but wrong about the wind. There was a nice little breeze blowing most of the time (which is common here) that helped. Once you get acclimated to the climate, the sights and sounds around you make it all better. There are also plenty of shady places to hide, and air conditioned buildings to retreat to. Trust me, it's worth it. This show is pretty special. Something about 6000+ hot rods, tens of thousands of people, hundreds of vendors, and some of the very best cars in the nation in attendance, and being beat on mercilessly around an AutoCross course... I have to see if I snapped a pic, but one of the things that stood out to me the most today was the Runt's front wheels literally covered in brake dust! :yes: :thumbsup:

I watched the Vendors' AutoCross Eliminations today - fun, fun, fun! Mad Mike Meyers (sp?) won in a blue 1st gen Mustang. He also had the fast time of the day 32.245, IIRC. The Pozzis and the Tuckers faced off against each other (wives against husbands) in the second round. Mary and Kyle won, then Kyle beat Mary in the semi final round -Mike had a bye. Kyle won the Rock, Paper, Scissors competition and chose to go second, but Mike put a number on the board Kyle couldn't match. Mary probably would have been in the final, but she clipped a cone in the semi final (1 sec penalty). I'm an old drag racer, but this crap got under my skin today! I gotta play this game... :cool:

I have street rod pics from the three days, but posted the street machines because that's what you guys and gals get off on around here. If you want to see the street rods, I am more than happy to post them. I wasn't really into the SROY field this year (nice cars, just not quite my cup of tea) so I probably took more of full-bodied cars this time.
