Sad too see

Lat G used to be a great place to hang out.

I think most people would be over these school girl antics, I don't post a lot, but this place is going to the dogs really quickly. It reminds me of an old western, where they gather up a posy and hang them in the streets.

Greg

214Chevy 07-21-2011 08:16 AM

Greg, I disagree with you on this one. Lat-G is still an awesome place to hang out. First and foremost, we are a family. What some of us fail to realize or haven't given much thought to, is that families do have fights from time to time. I don't think because an argument here or a disagreement there makes this a bad or not fun place to hang out. Tell me which one of us haven't physically or verbally had a fight with a biological family member? But, at the end of the day you were still family and loved him or her just as much if not more. Lastly, we are a group of guys (and girls) from different walks of life...different ages, ethnic backgrounds, different attitudes, different beliefs, different religious preferences, etc. With that in mind we are not going to always agree. But, until I log in daily and see a bunch of hissy fits and complaints, I would not say this is not a fun place to hang around. The advice and guidance I've gotten on here and the many friends I've made on here far outweigh the 2-3 fights per year. I'm mean, friends like Ron in So Cal, John Sevilla, Carl Cassanova make it all worth it. Hell, I even talked to Phil Gerber at Roadster Shop just yesterday for some advice and he was more than willing to be helpful. Phil agreed to do a very small job for me that I'm pretty sure he's far too busy to do. But, he said send him what I needed done and he would could squeeze me in. So, if that ain't a family for you...I don't know what is. :lateral: :lateral: :woot: :woot:

Talk about an inflammatory post. Sorry your not happy. We try and keep the peace, but you can't stop people from posting. We just react to what is already posted and go from there.

Well Greg... what you feel right now will just passed. You will realized in the end that Lat G is one big happy family.

I disagree, this site is experiencing some growing pains and at least Scott is being proactive. The core group is stronger than ever.

Which leads me to my next idea, a core group of individuals hand picked by the moderators that have a private forum on the site to discuss and solve site problems. I'm one on a motorcycle site and the members are reccomended by another core member and then voted in with a certain majority.

Stick around Greg! Your input/posts are valuable and I like seeing your name in any thread. We'll get past this. Scott and the team are very open to what the members have to say first and foremost. That in itself is what sets us apart...

I had just removed the last of the drama in another thread when you posted in it. You edited your post to delete it, so you must have seen that the drama was gone. So my question is why you started this thread?

There is nothing wrong with starting this thread, I'm just confused about what you're seeing that I am not. We closed the last thread and are weighing options for rules going forward. We started another thread for opinions of the members regarding these threads and a possible feedback forum. And we cleaned up the other threads, so did I miss something?

Hi Camcob, I just don't understand all the bitterness, this is a great site with so much great information, why do people feel the need to be so angry? Just trade information and get along, it can't be that hard.

we do have a great community here. But when people feel like someone has done them wrong they want to vent. In many cases they've held their tongue for a long time before they post. Some are complete bs, many are justified.

Things in general over here in the US are a bit stressed, and we've seen an increase in issues. We're doing our best to keep this site a friendly place to come for help, information, and general bs-ing with like-minded people. I appreciate your comments.

This site is still the best of it's kind. Scott and the mods are doing great with what they have to deal with.

Things happen, we move on.

We all bitch now and then its human nature, this is a great community, and a wealth of technical information. To the OP you really should re-think hanging out here, it doesn't need to get blown out of proportion.

Let's close this thread also and just get back to building cars, hanging out, making friends and gaining some knowledge we didn't have the day before.

I would like to exchange the drama for some build pics of the Pegasus Mustang, some updated pics of WAR, some updated pics from JCG Restorations, and how about some more pics from the Roadster Shop and Ring Brothers!!

I have made some truly awesome friends due to LG. Attended some great parties and events with more than a few of them. I've learned a lot and shared what I do know with others. It's been a great experience and I wouldn't trade it.

Sure it gets a bit heated from time to time, but where in life doesn't that happen. Even then it's not all that often. At the end of the day LG is still the number one feel good place to hang out, laugh, learn and have a good time. This is a great community. One that is bonded stronger than you may think. It's members come from all over the world, and that's pretty cool. One awesome site bonding us all.

Greg, next time you find your self in Las Vegas hit me up. I'll rally Todd, Aj and a few others and we'll drag you around for some car fun, a few beers and whatever trouble we can find to get in.

Cheer up brother. We may be one big, happy dysfunctional, family in ways, but we are happy.

Sorry Todd, I gotta disagree w/you on this one. I work for the Gov't and I gotta tell you more paper work doesn't lead to a better work environment. I really like this site, it's simple and here's to hoping:cheers: it stays this way. I will be in town again for SEMA.

In 6,000 years of recorded history, it's always been the same, "Opportunity mixed with Adversity".

This is just another opportunity for Lateral-g to shine. With the folks on this site, I have no doubt this challenge will just make this an even better site for all of us.

I thought we were bros...:unibrow:  I know all about paperwork. When I started selling Real Estate, the purchase agreement was 1 page. Now it's 11 pages and it seems to gain a page a year. My assistant shredded files for 8 hours this week! My point was to simply have a group of 10,15,20 members that can discuss things privately and help aid the moderators make decisions and keep an eye on things. I don't personally think the site has a real problem yet. But it's growing and more people, mean more problems and that ultimately means more decisions. We really only have one real full time moderator in my eyes that plays the principal.(Mr. Bernard) Scott is a busy boy from my understanding.

Truer words have never been spoken.

As a vendor, I like this site much better then others, because the people seem to be more mature, more into the hobby, and all about helping the next member, whether they are a site veteran, a vendor, or a newbie. Everyone has their buttons, and unfortunately they do get pushed time and again, but I think more people here then on other sites can put back on their "big boy pants" at the end of the day and move on. Now of course, there's always exceptions to the rule...

I dont feel my .02 means a whole lot around here, one because I'm not on the site whole bunch, and two, I dont like to get to involved, and three, frankly there are not a whole lot of road race dedicated individuals on here which probably keeps me from getting more involved.

I will say though we can all figure who's who and what they are all about and from there you can choose your group of guys you like to chat with.

What bugs me is the constant,"looks great", "wow thats awesome", etc,etc on the project up dates. Great work is great work and we all know talent when we see it but a little more constructive or legitamate conversation wouldn't make every body sound like, for lack of a better word, a blowhard.

I know what you're saying Gaetano. But I remember what it was like when I first got into cars. I'm an old guy, so there was no internet to get info from; if you didn't know a good mechanic or racer to help you, you were on your own. I made every mistake known to man on my road to "getting a clue"......... :willy: So I know that cars I had and modified when I was young wouldn't hold a candle to what is built now, but I thought they were very cool.

If a guy asks for advice or critiques that's one thing. But if he's just proud of his work and posts it on this site I cannot start telling him all the things he did wrong or should change if it's an amateur build. I think we need to grow the passion for these cars and should encourage anyone who shows interest in them. Kinda goes back to the "if you don't have anything nice to say............." idea.

I enjoy your posts and info, and hope you continue to contribute. This isn't a hard core road racing site like Corner Carvers, so I certainly don't fault anyone who doesn't try it. I would encourage them to do so, as it's a ball. But to each his own IMO.

I,really enjoy hanging out here every night.I have learned alot from other member's here.I have got a chance to personally meet quite of few of the folks here. They all been really nice.I think it's a good thing when you tell someone great job,or awesome work.I know it make's me feel good when someone say's that about my stuff. If you have something nice to say go ahead and say it.If someone has something negative to say I think they should keep to themselve's.:lateral:

Hope I didn't offend, certainly not my intention. There are alot of guys on this site that have great dialog and the comrodity is great and I enjoy getting involved.

All I'm trying to say is that its a little annoying to go through about ten posts in a row on a project update thread of "thats great''.

I still love the site and the people here.:lateral:

And thanks for the input Jody, always appreciated from you.

I have worked on every level of cars thru the years and don't have a problem telling someone they did a good job, Home builders are always doing the best they can. And your right if you can't say something nice don't say anything. Some of you guys can hang with some of the pro builders.

Thanks Greg. I wasn't really talking about anyones ability. Just the post"thats great", which I dont feel is a bad thing, but seen ten times in a row just seems a bit monotinous.(pardon my spelling).
