#746 1974 CHEVROLET CORVETTE ROADSTER $73440
I know what he paid for it, he didn't lose money. I had to chuckle at the announcers, they didn't know what to say. lol |
On the Barrett page it says 260k invested!!
|
that is one wicked ride...........wow
|
I thought I saw Charlie Lillard buy something. I think it was a '32 roadsters, orange color. Anyone else see that?
|
you no it does not seem right to have that much money in a car and sell it for so little.

Cars
I was there and did not see Charley buy anything, but he is pretty sly, he could have. That Black vette was pretty cool, so many cool cars, the place is an event, 4000 bidders and 900 cars, keeps the prices high - amazing.
|
yea it was crazy, i watched it on speed channel...........watched as they auctioned off that 1954 olds f88 concept for 3 million dollars...........freakin amazing how much money some people have..........hotwheels of turborides :hail:

Barrett
Yes I had a weak moment and bought a 32 Ford. Turns out it is the main car on the auction catalog cover and on their poster.

Thought I was invisible there for a moment! :D Jody |
Sorry Jody, I just changed my post. We apparently were at it at the same time. Thanks for posting the picture. I can say I watched the whole Barrett-Jackson event save for a few hours as It was a rare snow Ice event here in Georgia Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday that made the roads unpassable. Back up to mid 50's to 60's this week. Go figure.

car
Charley, cool car. I missed your buy, you sly dog.
|
Hmmm, you know Charley, I possibly know someone that might know some more history on the car if you don't already have it all. I worked at his machine shop out here for a awhile a he is one of the original members of the Sacremento Pan Draggers car club. He was heavy in the Northern California drag scene for quite awhile. He's in his 70's now so I think that puts him in the right time frame. I'll print some pics of the car and see if he knows anything about it. Do you have any idea from the paperwork what other colors it might have been?
|
The seller was so upset he took all the old oics on display with him. I know it was shown at the 52 Oakland Roadster show as the Hula girl but a different color. It then came back to Oakland again in 54 but had been channeled.
|
Wow! Great history on that one--A real time machine!

camaro at auction
I checked it out on Thursday, Saw a pro-toured 69 camaro sell for 75,000. It was a copper color lot #458. Made my wife feel a little better about all the money I'm spending on mine.
