'71 Camaro Project...

As some of you know, I have been looking for a '70-'73 Camaro that was already done.. I looked at a few nice cars but in the end, I would have to make changes to each car to make it my own. I decided to get a nice car and build one myself. I decided to build one the way I want plus I was getting bored, all my other cars are already done. Anyway, I picked up this car from a friend of mine. He has owned it for about 4 years and planned on building a Pro-Touring car out of it but never got around to it. He even had a brand new DSE front subframe that went with the car. It's a '71, was bought brand new in Winston Salem NC. It stayed in the same area all it's life. All original panels except for the right front fender that had a dent in it so they replaced it when they painted it 4 years ago. I have all the original paperwork including the protecto plate. It is a original blue/blue car, but I am changing the color. I am leaving for LA in the morning for a week, when I get back, I will start tearing it apart. My plans are RS front, full DSE suspension front & rear, Baer brakes, mini-tubb, 4 point bar, LS7, T56, Vintage air/heat ect. I am planing on painting it silver w/blk stripes. Here are a few cell phone pics I took last night..

This is one I'm going to like watch going together. That is a clean ass car to begin with for sure.

SW's taste for wheels and stance are always nailed on every ride exotic or muscle.

Thanks guys, looking forward to doing this. Just met with the fabricator I am going to use, going over a few things and placed "the order" from DSE for all the parts. The fabricator asked if I was really going to paint the car..LOL

carbuff 08-10-2011 02:20 PM

SW,

Mind if I ask who you are going to use to do your 'fab' work? Is it a different person than the one you mentioned who does your paintwork? I'd like to find someone in the area to do some small fab jobs as well...

Thanx, and look forward to checking the car out in person!

GregWeld 08-10-2011 02:56 PM

If it's 07 or 08, it think it is Arancio Borealis or Orange Borealis. It's a metallic 2 or 3 stage I believe. PPG code is LOE2 or 905385 and 905395/2. Is that right, SW?

SW Did you lose the kickback from HRE?
Almost everything I have ever seen you drive has had HRE's on it.

Nice Camaro to add to the stable.

If you guys think his garage is nice you should see the shop of the cars he has for sale!

WSSix 08-13-2011 10:10 AM

Looks like a great start for a project SW. I like your taste so I know it's going to turn out well. Keep us posted please.

I do have to laugh though. Every time you post pictures of project car, the thread inevitably goes on a tangent about all the other cars in the background. Certainly not a bad thing, just an observation.
