Nelson Supercar #008 - AWD Mid Engine GTO

Has anyone seen anythinging new on this project? There are a couple videos on You Tube but there hasn't been anything new in a very long time.:willy:

strtcar 08-11-2011 10:49 AM

Never heard about it until I goggled it, found this:

We built some wheels for the car a few months back. Haven't seen any pics of the car though.

Anyone have any updates? I have been scouring the web and I cannot find anything. Either this project has been put on the back burner or it is being built in an underground bunker. Hopefully it will be done for SEMA and a build thread is forthcoming.

tech@scotts 09-07-2011 11:47 AM

while at air ride I sponsered tom the air suspension all double adjust remote reservoir IR sensor shockwaves cars gonna be crazy!

next69 09-07-2011 03:36 PM

Does anyone know if it is being built for SEMA or if it will debut at a later date?

Jr 09-07-2011 04:31 PM

Send a pm to bentfab. He does alot of tube work for Nelson.

badmatt 09-07-2011 05:03 PM

theres some video of what looks to be the frame on their youtube...

Ketzer 09-07-2011 05:38 PM

So this is some kind of top secret build or something?

I'd like to know what AWD setup will withstand one of Tom's engines?!?

tech@scotts 09-08-2011 10:07 AM

Tom has been building this for a few years now and has renderings, pics etc. on his web. it is sporting a twin turbo 570 big block putting out 2000hp which he said he plans to drive hence the AWD.....

next69 10-31-2011 07:26 PM

Can someone post a teaser??

:hail:

next69 04-24-2012 07:07 PM

Any updates on this? I seen a recent video on youtube that said more details were in the April issue of Hot Rod Magazine but I missed picking up that issue.

next69 11-01-2012 10:47 AM

Its been over a year with no updates. Somebody has to have something by now.

Ketzer 11-01-2012 11:22 AM

I'm glad you keep bumping this up! Just as anxious as you to hear some details but I bet this is either a back burner project for Tom (who probably has ZERO free time) or a long term project for a customer that is building as fast as his checkbook will allow...

I would love to see what the front drive and transfer case setup are. The transfer case would have to be something bulletproof like a single speed Atlas and the front drive would have to be some sort of beefy truck third member.

next69 08-04-2013 07:06 AM

Tom, it looks awesome, cant wait to see more. What is the target completion date?

214Chevy 08-04-2013 08:21 AM

Very nice Tom. It's almost scary to see where our hobby of pro-touring is going. 10-15 years from now, it's going to be very interesting. But, this build right here...AWD and all, is ahead of its time and is very innovative.

streetbird 08-04-2013 09:33 AM

one word....WOW

next69 09-15-2013 01:17 PM

Any more progress pic's that you can share?

When do you expect to finish the build? I can't wait to see this monster in a YouTube video ripping up a track somewhere.

Vince@Meanstreets 09-15-2013 02:12 PM

that looks like a crazy build. can't wait to see the sheet metal work.

WSSix 09-15-2013 02:30 PM

Freaking amazing. I'm glad it's still being built and out there. Love the rims! Good luck to you guys.

Royalworks 09-16-2013 09:02 PM

Just insane. Love it.

groovyjay 09-17-2013 12:34 PM

Super freaking cool!

aggie91 09-17-2013 03:05 PM

WOW! That is some cool technology to scan the car body...

Going to be a killer car when complete.

preston 09-17-2013 03:50 PM

Can't wait to see what they're using for the trans/diffs/transfer and how it will package up.
