JCG Restoration & Customs 70 Chevelle-GSP 003
We are @ the point that this 70 Chevelle should have its own build thread.. We have been having a blast working on it.. The car came in from NY & had allot of hidden rust.. We have gotten thru all the rust repair & started on the body work on all the passenger side..
Laundry list.. to start off with JCG A-body Chassis Front suspension ?? JCG 3 link rear suspension 502 Ram jet motor with 4L60 WIlwood brakes Vintage Air New Gen Wheels Nitto Tires Here are some pics .. establishing ride height to build the suspension.. http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1468.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1467.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1466.jpg Pics of where we started.. http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...ration/510.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1254.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_1252.jpg |
Awesome, love following y'alls builds.
|
Sweet... what does the "GSP" stand for in GSP 003?
|
nice! gaps look damn good already. id love to see it when its further along.
|
Good looking project!
cant wait to see the updates! |
That stance is dead on. Looking forward to more updates.
|
I'd love to build a pro-tour '70 Chevelle. Either that or a pro-tour '69 Camaro. (Surprise, surprise, right? lol) I'll be following this thread for sure.
Are you guys painting it that same color blue with the white stripes? Is that the final stance on the car? I love that stance. |
Amazing what can be hiding under the paint huh?
Looking great Cris. That's going to be a solid ride when you're all done. |
Nice. What size are the mock up tires?
|
"Gonzo Special Project" We got so many components in design that it is easier to just assign a project # to it.. Used allot in Design & prototype world..

Ok, now I remember the first post you did on this car in your general projects thread.
It did look ok on the outside in those first pictures. Do you have any pictures of your new completed chassis? What suspension arms will it use? |
No new pic yet of chassis.. Suspension is still up in the air for the front..
In the mean time we want to get the body close enough for paint.. Quote:
|
Updates?

This Chevelle has been a bit behind due to front suspension design.. All the body work has been done waiting for final block for paint.. The front suspension is complete & only have figure out which sway bar we will using..
The upper control arm components have been machined.. they were brought in last weekend to proof fitment.. Jigs to build the arms are designed & will be machined soon.. We start nesting next week for water jet cutting.. The project has changed from 502 BB to LS3 525 HP engine with 4L70 transmission.. I just ordered the Forgeline wheels yesterday .. RB3C! http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...rack021612.jpg |
Nice!

I finally got some progress going on this Chevelle.. The owner has been very patient with me.. The delay was the design of all my front suspension with components..
Rear suspension will be a 3 link with watts.. Tomorrow we mount the prototype on the shell to proof fitment & then move to weld the whole thing.. I also got another 72 Chevelle in the works here @ the shop that I will start a thread later that will be using our chassis.. http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2784.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2782.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2781.jpg |
Nice! youre going to need a much bigger building..... keep it up!
|
I like it!
WHat is the weight of the basic frame? |
looks awesome.
|

Cris, how intrusive into the rear seat area will the three link be? I don't think I've seen a three link on any A-bodies. |
Scott-plz be more specific .. because my chassis different in alot of ways

|
Before this threads get into a mess, all I want to see is more awesome pics of a bad a$$ build and a nice chassis.  By the way, I think this is a nice chassis.
|
More updates... currently got the chassis all welded up with the front suspension assembled.. Got the new Forgeline wheels & setting up jig to begin rear suspension design & fabrication... I will have some pics later on how the 3 link suspension will fit on the car...

Looks sick, just like all your other builds.
|
Here are some pics of how our chassis was done… The frame rails were done in OE manner… I use fabricated torque boxes with as much bending that we can do.. We tried to optimize as much as we could so that we could reduce the welding.. Not as smooth & clean as other chassis that other companies do but was not working towards that.. just looking for a chassis to replace original with JCG suspension…
http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2791.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2794.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2796.jpg Here is a shot of how we attach the rear links.. Since Scott never jumped back in to tell me what was similar to the Ironworks Chassis.. This is the only part of our chassis that might be similar.. But I was doing leaf spring re-location kits on Tri-Fives to chassis’s that Danchuk sells.. about 8 years ago.. I like it because it keeps things out of the way.. http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2792.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2793.jpg The reason we are doing our own chassis & suspension.. because here @ JCG we have no boundaries on what we can design, machine, or build… We just look @ something and set our direction to build what we think is best for our applications.. When we run into issues .. We just look @ the problem & do what it takes to make it right for us & our customers… I currently have about 12 months of design time into all the suspension/chassis.. huge financial commitment on my behalf.. but has been well worth it.. I am just blessed with a great crew that can get the job done… |
