Im going to instal a battery cut off switch on my 69 Camaro... but im having a hard time deciding what switch would look best and where...

Do you want it outside of the car for track safety , or inside for security?
Outside, under the rear bumper in an obvious spot.
Interior, dont show pics of it on the internet.....no security at all if the world knows where to find it.

Where is your battery mounted now?

I have two batteries in the trunk.

I would like to see mounts on the outside of the car. I just cant figure out where i would want to mount it.

Here' the rear of my car...... suggestions??
The ASP badge is no longer there.

See the gas cap? When the SS is level, the switch is on. Off is in the position shown. Crap, just gave away my stealth security device. I wouldn't necessarily do it on a 69, but you said to show them, so I did.

Still have to build new rod and knob for it but i mounted mine in my frenched anttenna so it appears as an antenna push off pull on!

I have a feeling he's doing it for safety and not security. Probably to go down the 1/4 with 1000 hp. :faint: :D I've got a little trick up my sleeve for security as well but it's not as trick as you guys. I ain't sharing on this forum. I really think a thief will tow off our cars in lieu of hot wire anyway... I've yet to have a problem running down the 1320 with no switch but I think it's a smart decision in the event of a short or fire. I'll eventually put one in my car. It will likely be through the rear fascia as I like function over hiding **** anymore.

Mine will be outside, behind the flip down license plate where the gas filler would normaly be.

FYI, it needs to be visible to run sanctioned 1320 if tech has a hard on...

G-body- that is an awesome idea!

I don't know if you can see it that good with the picture quality, but it's in between the two filler caps.

I've always hidden mine up under the rear fender area and mounted to the frame (requires building a bracket etc). I can just reach up there and flip the switch (the standard rotating battery cut off switch). I always turn off the GROUND.

That doesn't help you if you want it visible for track events....

The best "Security" switch is just a small toggle up under the dash that kills the ground on your ignition switch.

PS: I always run a jumper across the battery cut off switch with a 5 amp fuse holder... that way all your electronic memory crap stays "on" but of course if someone tries to steal your car via the starter it won't carry the load. I agree with Todd that nice cars are stolen by pros and become unrecoverable in about a half hour.... but that is what lojack is for you should have that installed in any car worth owning. It works. Many times they just jack your whole trailer car and all... the pros are good at this stuff.
