My 71 RS Suspension/Autocross Upgrades...
Hey guys..my name is matt...pretty new over here at lateral-g...i'm mostly browsing protouring or nastyz28.......i got the bug to do some autocross and at the same time upgrade the orignal suspension on my 1971 RS camaro...using a mix suspension parts from dave at protouring f-body and Detroit Speed..on a budget but effective..after seeing mary tear up the courses in her 73 RS...the bug bitten me hard lol....gotten the car in november 2003 from my uncle which had sitting out back under a gum tree or something like that and had green mold growing on the outside and 2 inches of dirt in the cowling nevertheless she come along way.....anyways here some pics...

got some aluminum brake drums that been cleaned and are in excellent condition for cheap....plus 5lbs off each wheel...thats less rotational mass or whatever its called....good bang for buck...

IT BEGINS!.....just got the rear shocks off today...and dropped the gas tank for extra clearance to get them old shackles out...hopefully tommorrow....start with putting in new DSE springs..

started with front suspension after work today..got everything loose except my brake calipers to drop my lower control arms and take out the old springs...alot of upgrades i want to do....i think its time to take out them factory rotors and replace with some slotted,cross-drilled rotors and better pads.....

didnt get much done today....got to go over to grandpa's house to get the pickle fork to remove the lower balljoint being in the 30+years doesnt help lol.....couple good taps on the hammer didnt work lol.....tomorrow hopefully more progress....good news got my new front adjustables!....and new camaro performers magazine!
