18x8 265?
Can you fit a 265 35 18 on a 18x8 rim? I have a 245 and want to get more meat up front. I was looking at Tire Rack and they say a 265 fits a 9 to 10 inch wide. Seen a camaro with a 265 on 18x8 rim in super chevy mag but didnt know if it was a miss print and didnt want to order tires that wont work with my rims. Thanks for your time!

They'll work fine. I have 255's on an 18x8.

You're good

What tire brand? Some tires tend to run narrow. Id probably stay at a 255 max.

I was looking at TOYO R888 or BF Goodrich KDW2. Im trying to get a wider tire with out sending my rims in to be rehooped for a 9 or 10. But I want the car to be safe and ill do what I need to do to insure that. If you guys are saying stick with a 255 maybe I should for now.
Im trying to get as close to I can to get a 275 without rehooping. Is there that big of a diff between say 255/265 then a 275? Would hate to spend the extra money to get a wider rim if its not going to be a big advantage. Again thanks guys for your help! |
BIG difference in those two tires. You can cheat and put a smaller R888 on your car and have equal or better performance in comparison to the KDW.

You know what I would do.:unibrow: A bigger tire will increase grip marginally but having a front to rear reasonable stagger is just as important. I think you are brining in some other variables with your tie rod ends by going over an 8" wheel. It's your wallet, you can always upgrade later.

Make sure your backspacing is dead nuts before you pay to have them rehooped.

I honestly have no idea since I'm running a DSE frame. I run a 6.125 on a 10 inch rim. I have a feeling your backspacing is different. I'd call them and make sure those specs will work WITHOUT the tru turn. Also, what camber is needed to cut down on rubbing. You will need to limit your turning radius with a 275 vs. 245/255. I run 1.5 degrees of camber and have little concern and rubbing. As we discussed, unless you daily drive, it will take you a long time to put excessive camber wear on a tire. I wear my out well before I can fathom any type of camber wear if the toe is set within a 1/16 to 1/8.
