Need Help with new Wheel Colors
So I decided with the Boze new "Track" wheel. I really would like to go with all matt black but dont know how this will look with a hugger orange car with white stripes. I've also considered black perimeter with a gun metal silver in the center or a brushed perimeter with matt black center.
What would you guys do? http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...sonall4005.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...sonall4003.jpg |
Man, I'm having trouble envisioning anything on your car. If we were closer I'd let you test fit mine. How about black and chrome?

Matte black center w brushed hoops! Do it!

Todds got the right idea...for once. ;)

All matte black would look great if you had black stripes..otherwise, it might look a little disconnected with the white stripes.

What do you think of these? They are the EV3R's. Leave the outside chrome since I have chrome mirrors, bumpers, and the chrome strip along the bottom. Possibly even go with the same colored center in the picture? http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...1512290202.gif |

I had the same rational when I bought mine. I have the ZX3R's for weight savings. I don't know if I'd limit myself for a couple lbs though. They have come out with a slough of other killer step lip wheels since. I'm assuming you are going to 18's? The wheel you pictured has grown on me but not one of my favorites. Wheels are a personal choice...... Take your time. Picking wheels is a bitch!:unibrow:

This is what the Boze "Track" wheel looks like. I'd like to stick with 17's because of tire costs but there are also some other advantages to going to 18's like being able to use an ATS spindle.
Which one do you guy's think would look better? http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...Bozetrack1.jpghttp://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...1512290202.gif |
I like the Forgline, but with hidden hardware. I hate cleaning wheels to start with, then adding the hardware  nope.! Good luck! I'm with Todd, picking wheels is a bitch!

Forgeline for sure over the Boze.

OK, so these are the four different wheels styles that I have been looking at. Right now I'm thinking chrome outer with powder coated silver center. The Boze isn't a bad looking wheel and the EV3RS isn't bad but might be a little to busy looking. The GA3R isn't the greatest looking wheel but is supposively the lightest Forgeline carries. The WC3R is sort of a mesh style but I think too many others are using it and I'd like to try something different.
Which wheel would you guy's choose from this line up? http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...1512310153.gif WC3R http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...1512220120.gif GA3R http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...Bozetrack1.jpg Track http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...1512290202.gif EV3R |
Honestly, I like them all! Really depends on the look you want. The top wheel will give you more of a timeless/classic race car feel...I like that. The bottom one is probably my second choice. I would only do blind harware and consider what spoke/center section gives you a deeper dish. Also, how much weight does chrome outer hoops add? Are you using wheel spacers right now?

I just talked to Forgeline and it looks like the EV3R has been discontinued so I can cross that one off my list.

The Track wheel will look larger than the other two in the 17" sizing and is a great looking choice. I could see it working in a silver-medium dark silver w/ pollished lip. Don't go too dark or it wont look right. Now if you didn't have the white stripes that would be a differant story. Isn't this fun!?

on your car GOLD or BRONZE centers with polished lips would look amazing! i like the first 2 forgeline designs.

Bottom line, these threads give you 10 different opinions, but who you trying to please? Yourself, or the masses? All that said, I honestly don't like any of these wheels for YOUR car. It doesn't fit the theme of your car IMO, unless you are taking it a more Pro Touring direction, which I didn't think you were. I think your car deserves a more race oriented wheel--- like a CCW or something similar. |
Gaetano, on your car I'd like a step lip 18" wheel with a polished lip with silver, gunmetal or matt black centers.
I think a dark centered wheel would look fine on your car. Of the ones you chose I like the WC3R |
GA3R is a hot looking wheel...best of the four you posted.
As for a dark center...still not feeling it.....your car already has alot going on with it...a dark center will only add to that and not tie into anything already on the car....Chrome lips, brushed center is what I think would look best. |

Talked to Vince today, and as much as I dont want to pay for the 18" tire prices looks like I will be going 18's. |

Keep in mind CCW makes great wheels but they tend to be a bit heavy. As far as the black goes, trust me, I'm thinking of every possible angle to make black work. |
I vote for black centers, brushed, polished, or chrome lip.
|
I think a satin/matte black center with polished hoops would look good.
17x9.5" and 17x11" ZX3R polished outer hoop, satin center and satin inner hoop. 275's on the front ( got them from you Junky) and 315's on the back. http://inlinethumb37.webshots.com/47...600x600Q85.jpg Ignore the mess, damn construction going on around here:willy: http://inlinethumb62.webshots.com/47...600x600Q85.jpg Thanks, Jon |

I like all black too but them white stripes kill it.
i don't think a black center would look good either. Charcoal with a brushed lip might do it....sorry, all i got is 2nd gens for reference. |

Thanks again for the pictures. They certainly are a big help. Quote:
Vince, thanks for saving me before I might have made a wrong decision. I had credit card in hand and was 2 seconds from making the phone call before I talked to you. Although, looking at Jon's car and the pictures you posted may sway me back to a black center. I will most likely pull the trigger tomorrow. Expect a phone call from me. |
Thinking GA3R's with gloss black outer and matte black center or WC3R's with entire wheel gloss black with polished fasteners.
I think if I lose that big azz white background number on the door I can get away with it. Trying to find all the pic's I have before throwing door number stickers on it. http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...duation002.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/VP__1026.jpg |
I really think polished hoops/lips would look better on your car than black regardless of the center color on the wheels.
|
I'm not a fan of all black wheels ON THE CAR. They look great until they have tires mounted on them and you stand back from the car. They just disappear. Take your time and make the right decision. Go on Forgelines website and look through all the galleries.

I just got done with a few things I had to do today and now is the time for me to make the phone call. going to spend another hour or so thinking about it and then I'm making the call. Decided on the GA3R, just need to ponder colors a bit more. http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a..._854786715.jpg |

I'm thinking a glossy outer will shine through. Don't know what it is but All Black just keeps running through my mind. |
Gotta agree with Todd on this one. But that's my opinion.
Here's a photo of Mary Pozzi's 73 with an all black GA3R and her car is the new 5th gen Orange: http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_0786.jpg Here's Steilow's Red Devil with black center GA3R with brushed hoops, I like this better. Or with polished hoops even better on your car: http://www.sportruck.com/events/sema...rmance/476.jpg |
Rybar, I went back to the Forgeline site and heres the polished and silver and the black. Thanks for the pic's, I totally see your point. Maybe polished with silver would look better? Or polished with black? What do you think?
