Production #54 '69 Camaro

Here's a new project in the shop that I am stoked about. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...20COPO/016.jpg

It was a first day Van Nuys car factory Orange. It was started on about 5 years ago to be a 427 COPO clone...and it is VERY clean.

A great client and friend of mine picked it up about a month ago to do a killer Pro-Touring make-over.

Engine will be a - Wegner Motorsports 850Hp LS

we are doing a full Art Morrison suspension and frame package with DSE tubs.

Rushforth Design rendering

Custom interior with one of Marquez' new '69 dashes. I promise lots of build photos and updates:cheers:

first day I saw it

I later found out that my friend who painted my silver '68 and the red '69 did this one also!

Rybar 11-14-2011 07:44 PM

randy 11-28-2011 07:23 PM

Not a stupid question at all- Art Morrison supplied the rack along with DSE minitubs

randy 11-28-2011 07:58 PM

what was the deciding factor in using the art morrison clip instead of the DSE one? Whats the total cost involved in the art morrison clip

oh man- they are both killer pieces along with Speedtech- I don't think I can go wrong with any of them.

For me it was, Craig is a friend of mine, I'm a dealer for Speedtech and Morrison and Morrison is 10 minutes from my shop instead of across the country

there is an extensive thread on DSE vs Morrison clips if you do a search

DIGI-TAILS 12-01-2011 03:19 AM

Good progress... Good luck on this one!!! :)

youthpastor 12-18-2011 09:51 AM

We've made some good progress the past few weeks. The rear clip is welded in. We Modified the frame connectors to work like DSE ones- they sit nice and tight above the rockers. Brakes, Shock, suspension is all mocked up

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...20COPO/133.jpg

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...20COPO/130.jpg

The engine is in route from Wegner. The dyno sheet put it at 849.2 HP, but the cool part is it made over 700ft. from 3500-6200rpm's!! peaking at 4400 at 797! WOW!

Rybar 12-19-2011 02:12 PM

Looks good Chris, I'm curious to see install pics of that rear clip. Do you have any?

I will get some good pics when it goes back on the rack. Removing the rails was tricky not to swiss-cheese the floor. AME recommends leaving that small strip and just trim the rails up to the floor

youthpastor 01-23-2012 11:32 PM

FedEx showed up today!!

With a Wegner Motorsports 416 LS
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...72633198_n.jpg

It made an honest 849.2 HP but the cool part is it made over 700 ft lbs of from 3500-6200! Peaking just under 800 at 4800.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...14959218_n.jpg
We couldn't wait to get it mocked up.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...22866404_n.jpg
Here's a glance of 3 of the LS projects going together right now.

crazy low end power these things are making. Ours made a tad more, but in all fairness I think Casey only heard "break it" and not "break it in" Are you leaving the gas pedal out? Your not gonna need it:_paranoid

did they dyno it with the 105mm tb?

If I could create a new religion - it would revolve around words like these :-)

Very nice.

Carl and Casey. It all started with a set of Valve covers for another car. Carl gave me his cell # and said call anytime! Customer service has been outstanding:thumbsup:

We are kinda doing things different on this one since it was already painted. We wanted to mock it up before we blew everything apart and added lots of little custom touches- tucked bumpers, little carbon fiber accents. Here's a question for you guys...What color interior? The red calipers can be changed. Jason Rushforth is working on some really killer ideas. We are using some trick new pieces we saw at SEMA from Marquez. The Tiger cage is paritally installed. We are running one of Rick's tanks trick new baffled tank. Should be a fun car to get some track time with

tmadden 02-25-2012 02:59 PM

Wheels, tires and stance make all the difference in the world! WOW!!!!
Great work!

214Chevy 02-25-2012 03:53 PM

Maaaan, that rear is meaty. Niiiice!!!!:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

70rs 02-25-2012 03:55 PM

Hey Chris, great looking car. On the calipers, in my opinion the red calipers look good but are kind of over played on so many cars. Maybe something more subtle like gunmetal grey, silver or black but with red lettering to tie into the interior?
Just a thought. It really doesn't matter because everything you turn out looks fantastic anyway.

It was great talking to you at the swapmeet. Take care buddy!
