9in ford help,tucking 18x12 budniks with 5.5 backspacing and 55in rearend?

Guy's got a 9in small bearing ford rearend under my 69 camaro,g-linked,minitubed etc. Here's my problem from flange to flange the rear is 55in,i bought some 18x12 budniks from nathan on here a couple of weeks ago with 5.5 inches of backspacing, once I got the wheels i thought i may have made a mistake with my backspacing, then after doing some reading if I'm not wrong these should work but there sticking out about 2.5 inches out my wheel well.So after doing some figuring I got to thinking about something, the bearing on the axles is setting back towards the splines about 1in from the axle flange it self, the axles are 31-spline mosers that were in the rearend when i bought it,also it has disk brakes and the rotor hat sticks out about 1.5 or so if I'm remember correctly.Sorry for the long post guy's just needing some input.THANKS!

my 69 nine inch is 55" axle flange to axle flange and my rim is 18x12 with 5.5 backspacing and it tucks in nicely under the quarter panel on my car!
the rear end must be 55'' total with

I Have Wilwood 12.2 With 4 Piston Caliper
If You Have A Stock With 60 '' Rearend The Weels Wont Fit

It's 55in flange to flange,I'm wondering if this bearing problem or the brakes are throwing me off.THANKS!

V8s said 'total width' (WMS?) and Fillpot said flange to flange? 54.5" total width worked w my 69 w 12" wide rears on a 5.4 BS. On my Ford 9/Moser that made my flange to flange total width 50.5 (+2 on each side for the axles)....

Also consider panhard bar (or lack of) and sidewall flex. Also Wiwood rotors push you out another .25" I believe..:willy:

I think the bearings are ok stock rear is 60'' wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface to fit the wheels you have needs to be 54.5 to 55in wheel mounting surface i think you are measuring 55'' before the axles when you say flange you mean rearend and i mean axle flange
the 9in rear needs to be 5'' shorter them stock
hope this make sense

Thanks guy's that's where i'm screwing up at,I'm getting 55in from axle flange to axle flange not total width, thanks for clearing this up for me.Now anybody in the south east want to cut this thing down for me ha ha.THANKS AGAIN!

The only measurement that means anything is Wheel Mount Surface(WMS)to WMS. My 18x12 5.5" bs are mounted on a 57" WMS to WMS Moser 9" full floater housing. If you narrow the housing consider changing to Big Ford ends they use a much larger bearing. Or you could install a full floater hub kit from Moser. Since you need to narrow the rear housing anyway, just be sure to look at all your options first.

For sure going to change to the big bearing ends, wish i would have done that before i installed the rear end to begin with, specially for the brakes seems like there are a lot more options.THANKS!

Guy's took the rearend out tonight and stripped it down, going to take it and have it cut down this week, with just the bare housing from flange to flange it measures like 54 1/8 basically 54in,so with that said if i have it cut to 50in total width flange to flange i should be fine right?Sorry to keep going on about this but just want to be sure.THANKS!

one more question guy's,i'm looking at a couple of different housing ends and i'm thinking about these which would be big ford old style 1/2 billet housing ends from moser, now there is a big ford new style (3.562in x 2.000) and also big ford (3.500in x2.3750 with 1/2in mounting holes)any preference.THANKS!

Finally going to send the rearend to moser today,so if i got this correct i need the rearend to be 50 in axle flange to axle flange correct.THANKS!

That's correct 50" from housing flange to housing flange "bare axle" will definetly work with your wheels 18x12 5.5" backspace.

Thanks!

Most people are running the big ford new style housing ends. Not sure if it matters which ones you use as long as you match up your brakes to the bolt patterns. Will probably be a lot more options for new style housing ends though. Tobin at Kore3 makes brackets for all of the ones you mentioned if you want to use C6 brakes.
