1967 Nova is On Track!!!

I have started my project again, and I have decided on a new route.

I know this is similar to Project Getaway but I have done almost all of the work. They had some awesome ideas though!!!

Chassisworks front clip- altered the ride height so the car sits 2.5" lower
Chassisworks canted 4-bar
Custom roll cage and sheetmetal
Turnkey Engines LS3
T56 6 speed
Luxury ID wheels and Nitto INVO tires-19x12 with 345/30R19
18x8 with 225/45R18

Some of these pics are hard to see. I am not sure why some of them are clear and some are not.

The next updates will be the stretching of the rear wheel openings (not sure how much I am going yet???) and the roll cage followed by the sheetmetal

Where it started

Here is the car at ride height. The front rocker is 5" and the rear is 5.75." I will have a little room to play with the adjustability of the rear shock mounts.

Any suggestions on how much rake?

nice work...i like a 1" rake however...66-67's have funky wheel well openings so a 0- 3/4" would translate better.

I have to ask -- tell me about your frame table... I will be looking to build one at some point and just like to hear the reasoning behind how people built theirs and the pros/cons etc..

Thanks! My I-beam you can see on the frame table is 15inch. There are three, 8inch I-beam running perpindicular to the 15inch you can see in the pic. I had to build some braces to the top plate for strenght. Three pieces was not enough. Then it has a piece of 1/2" plate that covers the entire table.

The table needs to be as solid as possible where there is no deflection. The more braces in the center the better.

If i had to do it again, I would have the 15" on the bottom still, but put the 8" on top of the 15" every couple of feet. Then plate the top. Hope this helps.

Hope this helps.

Here are a few updates. The rear quarters have been stretched, have the block and transmission mocked up, and started to sheet metal the tunnel.

Look's real good.this thing is going to have an awesome stance.

waynieZ 02-13-2012 07:06 PM

I agree it looks great. Nice project.

jh99 02-17-2012 02:06 PM

Thanks! Its getting there.

Ordered a custom gas tank from Rick's Stainless Tanks yesterday! They were really helpful and great to work with. It will be here in about 4 weeks.

jh99 03-19-2012 04:24 PM

Not much of an update, but thought I would share. Chuck Church of Church Boys Racing really helped me out with these headers. Stainless Works built these headers. They turned out really nice!!!

jh99 04-04-2012 06:13 PM

A little work in the past couple of weeks.

Headers are in and the sheetmetal fits them nicely underneath. Exhaust is next in line.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...y99h/001-2.jpg

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...y99h/009-2.jpg

Transmission crossmember is fit and welded in. The exhaust will route through the crossmember.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...y99h/007-2.jpg

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...y99h/010-3.jpg

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...y99h/011-3.jpg

The wheel tubs are halfway in. The right one is clecoed in. Have to finish welding it and fitting it around the existing sheetmetal. A lot of work goes into the fitting. The quarter windows will still function properly.

My first thoughts on the exhaust tips were to cut them off and round them to the radius of the rocker. But, they actually look good how they sit in the pics. Any suggestions?

jh99 05-31-2012 09:29 AM

Finished the exhaust completely...except for the tips. I am not sure if I want the tips cut flush with the rocker or hang out a little like in the pic. Any suggestions???

Here is a sneak peek of the pedals. I had them laser cut at a sheetmetal shop, then broke and fit them. They mount just like the original pedals. They are not finished yet. Still a few things to touch up before they are finished.

I have a few small updates. Waiting until I can have a little more progress until i post more! I am from north LA, but LSU is ok. You could call me a fan. I am a big Saints fan though! Don't hold that against me. Haha. I'm not a cajun!!!

jh99 08-04-2012 07:03 PM

I have a few updates. I took these with my phone a few weeks ago. I have quite a few more, but I left my camera at the shop.

Here is a top view of the exhaust mounts.

I will upload the other pics on Monday when I get my camera. All of the sheetmetal is finished and welded into place, exhaust is finished (except the tips), the clutch and brake pedals are finished, and most of the cage is mocked up. Still haven't finished the dash yet (still brainstorming on how to mount the dvd, navi). Now we are mounting the core support, radiator, and condensor. I will have pics of this in the next week or so.

waynieZ 08-04-2012 07:54 PM

Its looking good!

jh99 08-08-2012 07:46 PM

Here are some more pics. I still have more that I need to upload, just not enough time in the day. I will get to them in a few days.

Most of these are of the sheetmetal welded into place. Sorry for the surface rust!!! I am ready to clean all of the sheetmetal...
