Rybar 12-18-2011 09:58 PM

This is going to be very cool if your last projects are any indication....

Track Junky 12-18-2011 10:09 PM

Yep, the last project was a beauty. A mid engine Mustang.........This is going to be interesting.

FETorino 12-18-2011 10:59 PM

Can't wait to see this

What are you using for a powertrain? Modular motor with a GT transaxle? Windsor based or Cleveland with a ZF? Late model Corvette with the driveshaft tunnel eliminated?

settintrendz 12-19-2011 01:39 AM

Awesome concept. I'm excited to see it come together!

69x22 12-19-2011 04:02 AM

If it's anything like the last two it will be awesome..

Sandbagger 12-19-2011 04:54 AM

Agreed-save this original if you're going to really cut it up to do it. Dynacorn! Of course it's your car and we've all cut our share so who am I talking...:D

Very cool project though and will keep watching it.

Wes

Isn't that bad enough? I will be upset if he says a SBC is going in it.

REAL BOB JOHNSON 12-19-2011 07:55 PM

I thought about a dynacorn body but by the time I found all the extra pieces I would have more money than i started. The car i have is a 1 owner ps,pb,air with a 351 windsor.I believe in putting them back original But any one can restore a classic BUT it thaks a REAL man to cut one up Thank's Bob

WSSix 12-19-2011 08:31 PM

Good luck Bob. Love the idea. Can you share more details on the drivetrain if you know them already?

REAL BOB JOHNSON 12-20-2011 08:26 PM

I'm using motor and trans axle out of a 2006 ford gt with 4000 miles. The suspension will be c-6 corvette. Haven't picked out wheels yet, Bob

A little progress, rear hatch is done. I wanted to finish the hatch before I cut out the rest of the car. Set it on the ground to get the ride hight done and measure track width.

coolwelder62 01-09-2012 08:08 PM

Lookin good so far.I wish a GM powerplant will be going in this thing.:D

This is a different Bob Johnson though this one lives in Georgia too. They know each other as well. Small world.

That's some lovely eye candy Bob. The hatch looks like it will have an almost seamless look to it like the GM hatchback Xbody cars from the 70s.

Bob, are you going to have enough room in the passenger compartment to fit comfortably? I'm not familiar enough with mustangs to know how much room they have inside. I figure it's going to be tight no matter what.

That's what I was thinking also, gonna be t-i-g-h-t. You could always look at pushing the rear wheel openings back? Not sure how much overhang there is on the rear of the transaxle? Most folks probably wouldnt even catch a 6-8 maybe 10 inch rear shift in the wheel opening.
