Car Themed Bedroom for my future hot rodder *Pictures
My wife and I are expecting our first on the 26th of this month. I have been wanting to do a car room for him. My architect/designer wife stated that he will not have a car themed room, but that I could add a few pictures....well I think it is a car room now! I have been bringing some stuff from the garage and found a few things at hobby lobby. The pictures are of my friends 55 convertible and my fathers 47-54 chevy project trucks that we took this pat weekend. I built the shelfs in the closet a few weeks ago. I think we are as ready as we can be! Hope he likes cars! :D

HAHAHAHA! That looks GREAT! He'll love it.... Of course it might be a couple years before you find that out.

Congrats on the "Little One." You'll have tons of fun and tons of diapers to change! Nice room.

Looks great, good luck!

Congrats on the little guy! Cool room too!
I hate to even bring this up but....How are those 3 pix of the patina Chevys mounted to the wall above his crib and is that glass? If he's anything like my 2 year old when he's able to stand, he'll find creative ways knock those off the wall and you have a major disaster on your hands. (Or even if someone slams his door too hard.) There's potentially similar issues with the shelving above the changing table too. They learn to use the drawers like steps very quickly. Sorry to be a downer but we have Dennis the Menace for a son and have discovered that anything that isn't welded to the floor can and will be destroyed, used as a weapon or amusement park ride, a medium for "decorating" furniture or target practice. He does it like it's his job and he's extremely proficient at it. I can't possibly imagine where he gets it from...:_paranoid When we had our first (my daughter) we had no idea how to make the house really "child proof". Infants are one thing, once they're walking they do the seemingly impossible. Don't ask me how I know... |
Congrats as well, my 3rd is arriving next month. Cool room, it will be upside down when he starts to walk so good thing you mounted everything up high. You guys look really organized, good luck with the birth and get ready to say bye bye to sleeping normally

Congratulations! We were also thinking of adding some car photos to my oldest boy's room.
I don't know if anyone mentioned but there is a thread with artwork here on Lat-G. Some of the artwork is very nice. Below are a couple examples I saw over a year ago. I'm sure there are several more. These would look great framed or even wrapped on canvas. And no I don't have any affiliation with the owners of these photos. Jason |

Ben has some good advice too! My first (now 6) was pretty good and you could "bend" him into submission (somewhat)! Now my youngest (almost 3) could destroy an anvil in a sandbox! And doesn't know what the word stop means....no matter how many spankins he gets!!! He is not "bending" very well! DooH!!! :willy: |
sweet room.
i love the simplistic look of Ikea stuff. ^^^^ yeah my daughter was great! i lucked out and she never got into anything... i didn't even finish baby proofing the house( cabinets and what not) because even and at 1.5 she would listen when you told here not to touch/mess with something. now our second will be here in march (A BOY!) and Im betting since i had it so easy with mia, he'll be a terror and get into everything! i fear Im gonna have poison control on speed dial!!! |

I look forward to driving the 68 this summer with the family. My wife is ready to see the car done so he can have pictures taken in it. Everyone is telling me I will not have time anymore to work on cars.... I don't think I will have the time I have now but I will still make time to get out in the garage. |

I agree and I also like the price of the IKEA stuff! He will be playing cars and baseball all over that furniture in no time. I keep telling my wife that all my parents had for me was a pack and play in their bedroom. :D I have had a good time working on the room though. Congrats Ryan and AJ! |
You will have some time, just not as much. You have to make an area in the shop/garage that is friendly enough to be able to bring him out there with you. Both my boys have spent countless hours in the garage with me. I got a tv, VCR, DVD, stereo, AC, heat and an array of toys to keep them busy. The best thing really is a Tonka dump truck. They make thousands of "laps" running around the car. Just take a few seconds every few minutes to pay attention to them. The time is well worth it to "involve" them in the garage.
