There has been several reports of stolen account from many social networks, same as bloggers' accounts, forum members accounts and personal/financial infromation from buy/sell websites, fortunately it hasn't gone too far, since I haven't known about any stolen bank account or big amount of money (although there has been money involved) so watch out for your information guys, be REALLY careful, and try to avoid buying by internet in a little while, because I'm pretty sure there's going to be an attack to the internet ANYTIME soon.

Having done the computer security thing for a while and been both victor and victim, I have to say, get used to it. Anything that contains overly personal information needs to be well protected. Online banking, PayPal, and accounts with purchasing power, as well as your email should have GOOD passwords on them. No real words, phrases, or acronyms should be used. I found the most effective passwords came from CD-Keys/Product keys. They are usually a somewhat random combination of numbers and letters and are written down somewhere safe that no one really suspects.
NEVER use your phone for any of the above accounts too. Not even txt banking. Anything. Period. |
First I really appreciate the lat-g email about the security breach.
Second thanks for all the input. |
You heard Greg, watch out, change passwords, try not to log in from public sites to sites that have personal information, etc. Watch out guys.

lots of this going on. I got an email through Facebook from a member here that needed money fast. Of course it was bs, but they're getting trickier in their scams.
|
I read something about hackers were hacking computers so that when you viewed your bank webpage it would show no new transactions except the hackers were pulling money out and the only way to tell was call the bank, ATM, or monthly statement.
|
Even though most of the money management web services are safe and trustworthy, it's been a while since the last time I payed something by the interwebz, I think the last time was before I turned 15 or so.
Even though there are a lot of ways of getting your webpages to be safe and never give up on your personal info, there is more than one way of getting it, so be REALLY careful, if I were you I'd stop making web transactions for a while. |

Talk to everyone you know and tell them if they don't talk to you personally, tell the person asking for $ or info to f-off |
Jody and I received an odd email from a mutual contact a while ago, maybe a month, and it was along these same lines. Damn hackers.
|
I got one from my dentist about a year ago. I thought really Dr Reed is emailing from Mexico if I'm that far up his emergency email list there must be a problem.
