Welcome Doug!! Post pics of the Skylark when you get a chance. There is a wealth of knowledge from guys on this site. You'll love it here. :woot:

Welcome Doug! I am across the bridge in Puyallup. We have a small Lateral-G crowd around the Pacific Northwest. We even have our own local heros Greg Weld and Jason Rushforth- they are kind of a big deal around here:rofl:

Check out Jason's Buick with the LS2 engine and we also autocross out at Bremerton Raceway. Hope to meet you this summer! - Chris

LMAO! What a smarta$$!

Doug contacted me about designing a mild facelift for the Buick so I immediately sent him here for a crash course and hopes of you guys helping me talk him out of a dual quad 455. Mission accomplished. Doug is now voraciously gathering info on doing a lot of the things to his Buick that I did to mine.

Welcome to the party, Doug

Party time!

Hell yeah party time, I have been driving my Buick on and off for a few years...well when ever I came home on leave. I never did to big of projects on it because I didn't want to not be able to drive it.

When I get back off this deployment I plan on pulling the 300 v-8 and 2spd power glide, and getting it all cleaned up for re-sale, going to get my 455 block ready to sell, offenhauser intake cleaned up and try to get the money I need to buy my LS1.

But at the same time I hate not being able to drive it....the front suspension is old, sags, bushings are shot....so really it is unsafe.

What do you all think...?

JayR 01-29-2012 10:51 AM

You have the links to my Skylark build, Doug. I would do the exact same thing as soon as you hit shore and if you hustle, you'll be on the road by Summer.

Welcome member of the Buick community...

So it begins

So today I started my official planning for my skylark. I now have Jason on the payroll for plans, drafts and final composition of the evil twin version of his fine ride.

I have lined up a 1997 Corvette LS1 engine :)

Upon my return to home, I will be jacking up the ride and removing the engine and trans for a basic face lift to the engine and compartment.......I want so bad to just put the car in the air and remove all suspension, engine and trans and start the fine detail changes to all the areas...but I would regret it during the summer months when the car shows come around.

So the plan is hotchis, tremec, rushforth, and more to come.

Almost..............

I am almost home.....16 more days and I will be back in Washington state. I cant believe how fast 7 months went by but I am sure glad its over......not I can get started on my car....

- First - Deep cleaning - De-greasing
- Second - Organize tools for dis-assembly
- Third - Remove everything suspension and drive train
- Put it all on Craig's list and make back some build money.

I cant wait

Welcome to Lat-G Doug. That's a killer Buick you've got going. It's nice to see something a little different around every once in a while.

My little brother (little but bigger than me.) was stationed in Bremerton for the past 5 years. He's now down in Florida for 3 years, but I would imagine he'll be back in WA after that. He seems to like it there.

1st off....Thank your for your service! I'm also across the bridge in Maple Valley, I work on Joint Base Lewis McChord for the time being, lots of knowledgeable people and great vendors in the Puget Sound area. Can't wait to see what you have planned for this.

DBasher 05-10-2012 06:40 PM

You said something about an evil twin..what's with the pink cowl? :_paranoid

Sounds like you've got enough locals to put together a work party, count me in! Cool car, keep at it.

Dan
