another 69' project from HOLOHAN'S HOT ROD SHOP

Here's another 69' project that we have been working on.
The car and it's owner's are from Maryland.
They brought the car here to continue the roll cage work, stainless exhaust, mild bumper work, inner fender well mods, trim and weld rear wheel well lips, install Billet Specialties deck lid hinges, gap deck lid and do some detail fab with the marker and reverse lights.
The car came in with all of the sheet metal work, body work/primer, front and rear suspension and initial roll cage work all done by the owner which was all very nicely done.

Dan,
Quick question you said the side marker bezel lens are Marquez, which I seen on there website. What about the recessed panel sections? Was not clear if you meant Marquez sold them also? Or are those something you made and if so do you sell them, I really like those!

And on another note I love the work you do looks killer!!

marker light panels

Hey Guys,

My bad about the marker light panel info, I should have made that more clear about the availablity.

The panels are now available thru my shop. But due to my website getting reworked, they are not on the store front yet.

If you want to order a set, please email me and I'll give you details.

Also, the marker light openings are laser cut for a precise fit on the bezels and the perimeter shape of the panels will be rectangular in shape that can be cut, trimmed and shaped accordingly.

Thanks, [email protected]

Curious on the use of what looks to be silicon bronze filler. Any particular reason over the use of er70s filler, or just a personal preference because of less heat input/ease of metal finishing?

I've noticed a few fabricators using it also. I asked a friend of mine and he gave the same reasons you quoted, less heat to get flowing and easy to work after. He said your not supposed to use it in any stress/load area though...

Jeff-

silican bronze

Yeah, low heat, thin metal and rust metal friendly, and easy to grind. I use it in these applications and on any overlapped low stress areas.

I started using the silican bronze growing up in my Dad's Commercial/Industrial sheet metal shop. Used it alot in fabricating roof flashing's, rain caps, etc. Except I used a copper jacketed carbon stick, stuck in a electrode holder instead of a Tig torch.
It's also used alot in ductwork applications in nuke plants.

CornHusker4Life 06-22-2012 02:12 PM

You make it look and sound so easy. BEAUTIFIUL METAL WORK. Or should I say ART?:hail:

Raitsa 06-22-2012 02:56 PM

I am learning new tricks by reading this awesome thread, thanks Holohan ;)

MoparCar 06-23-2012 08:46 AM

Dan,
Are you just using standard silicon bronze rod like what you would use with a gas welding set up or is it a certain alloy or size? I too grew up using it for bodywork, but that was still back in the day of gas welding and dipping the rod in flux, etc.

I sure appreciate you posting your work.

Thanks-Wes
