Karl Chicca was there in his red '69.
He is probably the fastest '69 I know of and was laying down 1:47 lap times. He's running a Lateral Dynamic's rear suspension and up front he's running a stock sub with Global West CA's. http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...b121012035.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...b121012034.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...b121012033.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...b121012032.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...b121012031.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...b121012030.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/a...b121012029.jpg |
Great post/pics Bro. Looks like a really fun day. Asif's interior is all business...and that red 69 - is that a fiberglass front end?

Hey G, good talking with you today. I think Carl has a glass front because of this....

Hey Jeff, great talking to you today. Hope the build pace pic's up for you on your Mustang. I know what your going through trying to balance a car build budget when your raising little one's.
Best of luck to you  |
Dude, great pics! Did you get a new camera with an ultra-zoom tool? :D
I was wanting to come out this weekend but had the soon-to-be-father-in-law's 60th to attend today. Both those cars are lookin killer and made to kill. Here is Carl's reason for the 'glass front end, as mentioned above. That is a bad ass car. |
I had my camera set up for the correct size photo's but somehow it got changed. I was going to shrink them but actually kind of liked how they posted so I left it alone.
IIRC that happened back in 2005. Karl was still in HPDE when I was in Time Trials. When I left NASA and racing altogether in 2006 Karl continued to run and is now a really skilled driver. His partner Dave Brown has won 16 National Titles and is now partnered up with Karl and are running in USTCC. You can look up Dave on UTube and catch some pretty exciting racing vid's. I spent alot of time with those guys today. Karl has put together a pretty cool racing team. |
That's awesome. And great pics, seriously!
I know seein that made you wanna be out there sooo bad G... |
Very Cool Pictures...
Showed me the humble reality of the cars out on the track... I see that I will need some more money to race the Big Tracks.. Some Serious hardcore cars...Very Nice... I am getting there.. I hope to come follow you guys by 2013.. |

Either way, it's mostly all about the solid people in this hobby. The amount of support Asif was getting in the garage was awesome. People offering help, tools, materials, etc............ |

Yes, i am semi retired , and a Newbie, so it is going to be fun to run at some point.. Meeting and greeting will be fun, and I can try to follow the lines and learn.. My Wife and i are going to Yosemite in June, and i told her I wanted to plan it around my Racing Schedule..Not that i have one yet, but just planting the seed.. I did not put the money into the car for a show queen, especially with 28 year old paint.. And the streets are not cool to race at 52.. So, yes, I will get it together soon enough. You guys have me just too excited.. :lateral: :woot: |
Hey Solarguy,
Gaetano is right the best place is HPDE 1 for beginners. You can go with NASA or NCRC or even some of the smaller open track event holders like Hooked On Driving, Checkered Flag, Shelby Club etc they all seem to have some sort of beginners group. P.S. I don't know if I would sell the idea to the wife as "Racing" cause it's not it's a high performance driving experience (HPDE). I sold it to my wife as learning how to be a better safer driver & learning car control. She has been to several HPDE's to spectate and has seen women and teens out their learning so she's ok with it. |

Great effort Asif!! Nothing like getting your feet wet on your first race!! Work out the bugs and get her tuned right and soon you should do well.
What a great effort from all in the garage that helped you out. Another one of those things that makes this hobby so great!! I'm hoping I'll make it to your next one. Hoping even more it's with my car. |
Very nice...
 |
Great video
|
We should see another video posted soon. Asif did better yesterday with the changes and what he learned from his previous race. I think he gained close to 6 seconds which is huge.
|
I will be checking in..
