I had an Akita many, many years ago. My ex-girl friend ended up getting custody. Funniest dog ever. His name was Bandit. He used to sit in my truck just like I did, on his ass with his legs forward and his arm out the window.

He'd be smiling with a big old dopey look on his face everytime I took him out in my truck

Awesome dogs! I just about adopted a young male named Boomer from a friend who relocated to OK. Talk about a breed with speed and agility. Friend's ended up with him so I still get to enjoy him occationally.

Found a stray Great Dane in the backyard this morning. He's acclimating to the house just fine. A real gentle giant, polite, and curious. Pretty strange having something this big walking around the house!

Sadly they magnify the cruelty of dog years.

Sign out in the neighborhood, craigs list add, and facebook posting. Will run him to the vet later for a scan if no responses........and we can coax him into the van.

WSSix 10-27-2012 05:18 PM

Holy crap! A stray Great Dane? Love those dogs. They are so gentle and good with people.

He's awesome and the size and gentleness is surreal. He put some miles down as the fronts of his main pads have dime size raw spots on them and his nails are trimmed high and tight.

Bed rest is the best medicine.............

Somebody is looking for that dog. I'd post an ad for it. He'll eat and **** you out of sanity anyway. ha

We've posted ads on Craigs List and facebook, sign up in the neighborhood, at the local market, and had him scanned for a chip at the vet......no chip and no ID on the collar, which I don't understand. Vet thought he's about 1-1.5 years old. Don't want to spoil future plans for you but picking up **** for a small and dane isn't as bad as having two kids in diapers at the same time. :unibrow:

You got the same issue I do. I get up early and go out and clean the stables. Come back in to get ready to go to work and WTH,... you guys comfy

To get an idea of what a moose our Pyrenees mix is here he is next to the horse, he is the lighter colored horse. The GSP is almost 12 and survived a brutal dog attack last year. I spent enough on vet bills to finish my build but no regrets. Both are rescue dogs.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...rsevshorse.jpg

We have some other critters too.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...nca/chicks.jpg

They earn their keep though, fresh eggs. Also two freeloading cats one a rescue and one my wife found in the bushes of our last house, oh yea and a CA desert tortoise.

Sieg 10-27-2012 09:45 PM

Nice habitat Rob

I met these guys in Paisley this year, great breed.
http://sieg.smugmug.com/Other/Paisle...IMAG2118-L.jpg

Especially this pup with a great disposition.
http://sieg.smugmug.com/Other/Paisle...MAG2121-XL.jpg
He kept jumping the fence so he gets to drag that ATV tire for a while, he can jump the fence but can't pull the tire over it. :D I admire quality rancher ingenuity. :unibrow:

The goats they guard are pretty interesting too.

Yea our mix is as good natured a dog as you'd ever see. Super calm and away from the house downright docile. Had 5 kids climbing on him at the coffee shop this am.:D

At home he likes to go lay right in the middle of the chickens or by the horse and if anyone or anything other than us comes around he starts out with some pretty guttural sounding growling and then stands up and gets all puffy.

My neighbor lost a turkey to a bobcat and some chickens to the coyotes but nothing seems to come into our yard.

My neighbor has a cool critter.

Great Dog

My neighbors indoor cats didn't do much to stop their attempted robbery last summer either, for some reason they didn't try our place. :D

What is the neighbors critter?

It's a bad pic but he is a miniature donkey. He and Polar (our dog) are the exact same size. The two of them chasing each other is a hilarious sight.

Here are my boys. Steve (on the right) and Kevin. Steve is crazy smart with tons of personality and very well behaved. Kevin on the other hand is the new face of terror, but he's learning.

Talked to Tucker's newly adopted handler this morning. We may be adopting the little 22 month old.

He's not real comfy around our home though.........

Pretty spontaneous decision, but it feels so right. Hopefully it happens. One thing I know for sure, if Rev was lost and I found out where he was I would have dropped everything and been in transit to reunite. This lady lives 4 minutes from us.

Sieg 10-28-2012 01:19 PM

First off, If REV was lost ..I'd bet you be searching hell and high water for him! So you found the owner and she desn't want the dog?

I, like you would have dropped everything and been up all night and day until I knew where he was.

It's official........Mr. Tucker Siegmund has a caring and loving home!

FWIW - He's 35" at the shoulder and easily needs to put on about 10-15 lbs. This will be an interesting relationship.

Rev's acclimating well, but occasionally has hot flashes. When Tucker's feet are healed up he better watch it. :D

Glad Tucker is with people who care. The previous lady apparently didn't.
