Chad Reed Out for the season.
Reedy is out with 2 broken ribs, a broken tib/fib, broken spinous T6 and a torn ACL. That was a gnarly wreck....
The pretty much concedes the championship to RV2. Darren |
Sorry to hear that, Reed was showing some real speed this year. I wouldn't have guessed that large a laundry list from that header. I figured the knee wasn't good the way it got stretched.
It was shaping up to be a pretty good battle. VP is on his game this year, though like Reed he's not imune to injury. Maybe Dungy can bring a little more to make it entertaining. |
I think the season is going to be a yawner at this point unless RV has a bad race.

DeCoster may be able to inspire Dungey. The pass for second in the last race was the "attitude" required.
Who are the potential "sleepers" in the field? If the 450's end up a race for second at least the Lites show promise. |
Weimer looked great in the first race. I like KDUB, but not really a sleeper. Just not Alessi!

That's a huge bummer. Reed has earned my respect the hard way. I always thought he was a dick till he started his own team. The guy has talent, he's mentally and physically tough. I look forward to cheering for him during the outdoor season.

I'd like Dungey to do better but he doesn't ride aggressive enough. I think Stewart's best days are behind him and Villapoto looks untouchable. But, being motocross, anything can happen. I feel bad for Chad because he looked like the only guy that could keep up with RV.

Competitors tend rise to the opportunity, hopefully we see that this season. RV is tough competition as he's fluid and has good stamina. Dungey has been somewhat complacent but he has Rodger DeCoster driving him now and the last two races he's been improving in the aggression department. (I'm pro KTM so there's some bias in my opinion) One thing that impressed me with Dungey in the last race was his fastest lap was his last, his conditioning is obviously there. Stewart is great entertainment though I'm not a fan due to perceived character and past actions. Really felt bad for Reed, I wasn't a fan due to his attitude when he was a factory rider, but since becoming an owner he's really stepped up his PR game. Hopefully the knee isn't career ending for him because he is one tough competitor that is good for the sport. RV may run away, but there may be a couple challengers that rise to the occasion and make it an entertaining racing season. |
I think Go Pro needs to strap a camera on KDub when he does those transfer jumps. :unibrow: Those are friggin nuts!

wasn't the atlanta(?) jump like 116'? I think emig said that was 4th gear wide open to clear it. I can't believe anyone hasn't stepped up to challenge him. He's come a long way from the heel clickers of the past. I ran into kdub out at red bud about 8 years ago. Seemed like a super cool guy. I think he'll make it onto a podium this year. If there are any rain races, he's the guy.

Daytona is always a good race. Looking forward to watching it after I get home from RTTC. :unibrow:
