Move on

Hi,

As I'm moving to my new house next week, the Buick had to be on wheels to move.
.

So the rear axle went back

as well as the engine
http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/3029/dscf5994.jpg

I tried the Procharger on it but found an isssue with the brackets for the steering pump.

http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/1116/dscf6018j.jpg
i bought the kit from XS Performance (now out of business) and it seems they didn't used the same pump to create the brackets !

i will have to make some new ones

I also bought Poston valve covers on E-bay...

When i see all the quality builds on this forum, i'm ashamed to post pictures of my car..... i have to say that i'm in the mock up process, that's why some parts are still rusted or not cleaned (for example, i have the new brake booster but still in the box as i'm not at this part of the build now...).
I want to drive it before biginning the full restoration.
So be kind with a little european pro-tourer...

Bucketlist2012 02-21-2012 11:47 AM

Sweet Parts....

Nothing to be ashamed of...you do what you can with what you have.

Post away!!!

Looks like a nice start to me. Most of the people that put down cars don't eben have one or theirs is still stuck in the garage like mine:D Post more pictures as the build continues.

Macbuick 02-21-2012 01:32 PM

Thx

The following weeks will be used to work in my new house (mostly new paint on the walls), upstairs and .... also downstairs, where i will have a much nicer place to work on my cars...but i have to paint the walls and floor of the 1500sq ft garage....
I will post pics asap

Macbuick 04-20-2012 09:23 AM

Cool

So i started to work again on the Buick, but things can't always go right !
My Ron Davis Radiator doesn't sit right in his upper mounts in the upper radiator support ....

http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/7591/img0506xe.jpg

I bought it from TA Performance, so it should have sits in a Buick ! :(

tlillard23 04-20-2012 11:45 AM

nice garage. ashamed? you haven't seen my car yet, yours look like a dream.

Knaller 04-20-2012 01:38 PM

Agree! Nice garage. Not to mention the cars.... :unibrow:

Macbuick 04-25-2012 09:52 AM

The radiator is ok

mocking and cutting....

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/5088/24042012091.jpg

i think i will replace the carb hat....it's ugly with the spacer, i prefer an one piece hat....problem they all have a 3.5" diameter for the hoses, so i will have to also buy and adapter 3.5" to 3" as my tubing is 3".

Next step : bolting the intake and the valve covers....so i can go on with the rest....

Looks like you need different rubber isolators. Here are some that I bought and what came with my 68 GTO.

Looks like you need the long ones with the big openings which I cannot find.

Love the new garage! Great work space!

Macbuick 04-26-2012 12:31 AM

In fact one of the lower rubber had moved and that why the radiator was not in the right place...
I didn't noticed it whan bolting the upper bracket

My rubber are right ;) I wanted to replace them but they where out of stock by TA Performance (Buick specialist), i will check on my El Camino if chevys are the same.

Thanks anyway for your help !!

connected.....

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1619/connectedg.jpg

so the intercooler is connected, i cut all the tubing to the right length...

Do you know of any small tool to make a bead, or rolled up at the end of the tube ? Is there only a Woodward-Fab Bead Roller Kit which can do it?
I cut some tubing which had bead on each side but now one side is missing his bead ! :(

Any help will be welcome !!

Thanks

David

Thanks, I do my best :) , I would like to do the same works as the famous builders/shops we see on this forum, but I don't have the same budget and tooling...

You did a great job as well on your car !

I have OZ wheels from a BMW on my El Camino, they fit nicely...

the air funnel is in place of the headlight

I cut a plate and drill two holes to receive the shift lights

Just a thought, have you considered re-clocking the blower to have the discharge point down and then route it forward under the blower? I don't know if you have room but it would make for a cleaner looking install.

There is no "off the shelf" blower kit for Buick engines like for Chevys, this positionning is the more easy to install and there is no room under it (steering box).
It is the same routing as many kits and making it more clean is useless as the rest is not so clean
Anyway, thanks for the idea....

Macbuick 10-27-2012 09:27 AM

first drive with the procharger installed.....
Still issues with charging and tuning of the carb.....too rich ! smells like hell !

Your ElCamino in the background looks pretty sinister also.

Macbuick 10-27-2012 10:41 AM

Yes that's the look I was looking for ;)

black wheels add to the sinister look, I see that you're also going for the same color

Macbuick 04-02-2013 07:13 AM

Yep,
I just received my latest parts from Summit, ....
The carb jets and the electric exhaust cutouts, it will be time to work back on the Buick....:headspin:
