The car is 2005 GTO red. The upholstery is Ultra-Leather or some such. Looks like leather, very soft. Here's a shot of the car from a while back.

The seats look really good!

ProTouring442 02-27-2006 06:39 PM

Thanks for all of the compliments guys! With the cars some of you have built, any compliment from you is a BIG one! My resources are pretty limited, so most things I have to do myself. I didn't do the upholstery, but I am thinking of putting on the top. I will also be making many of the interior parts, and even covering a few of them.

Thanks Again!

Seats look great, nice color scheme. I found a set of 05 GTO seats and thought about putting them in my 67 Camaro

So you are going with the painted bumper scheme  . I like the shine of chrome two much. Are those '70 tail lights on there? Can't wait to see it completed. Actually sheetmetal shots with wheels will be cool too.

Yeah, the bumpers now bolt up flush to the body, they don't stick out at all. The tail lights are '71, as are the grills. I liked them more than the '72s. Front bumper has driving lights where the parking lights used to be. I even made cornering lamps in the front marker lights. Why? 'cause I am one goof-ball :willy:

As for the wheels... haven't figure those out yet. I don't have a huge budget, so some of my favorites are out. TT2s would look good, but everybody has them. I was also thinking of some Vette rims with the bolt on spacers to make them work. What do you think? Anyone?

T Bell 03-01-2006 12:18 PM

Not a big fan of the spacers but a few people I know run them without problems. If you are looking at the vette rims, I think it is SLP that has them fairly cheap. $700 w/o chrome. Did you adjust the bumper mounts to get them to mount close like that? Where is your build page! And I noticed the clean BBC install.

The bumpers are fiberglass, and bolt up to the body, not the frame.. I will be making "bumpers" out of tubing to fit behind them for saftey's sake. Not that the original bumpers did anything at all. You can kick them and they will dent! :( The were originally "racing" glass, and not very good quality at that! In the future I may pull molds from them so I will have "replacements" in the event that one of them gets damaged.

As for the "build page," I don't have one... wouldn't know how to get one either! It's been a great project. It has alowed me to work quite a bit with my father, not too many 37 year olds who get to do that.

Thanks for the compliments on the BBC. My goal is to make it so that everything on the car looks like it "belongs" there. It's not as sano under the hood as a lot of cars on the site though. I always wonder where people hide everything! All of the relays, the different tanks, the miles of wire... :willy: Egad! There is a lot of stuff to go too!

They are hidden in the upper corners of the grills. Since they are up high, you only see them when they are on.
