Redoing my garage... Give me some idea's, show me yours!
Hey guys,
Car is getting stripped and then will be sent out to be with the body man for a while. In the mean time, we are wishing to redo the garage completely. Plans so far are: -UCoatIT the floor -car hoist (we have 14ft ceilings) -Run 220v -Integrated air system in the walls -wall rack system (ie. GarageTek) -some sort of workbench/storage system (ie. GarageTek) -various auto related art I really want this to be a cool hangout/car garage setup. I was wondering what people are using out there? Show me what you have so i can get some more ideas. Thanks, Trev |
From my experience, Garages are like women's pocketbooks. Reguardless of size, they are slap full.
Oh, if its that nice, you'd better put you a bed in there, you are gonna need it. |

Nice setup. You'll need some tunes, so a stereo system would be nice. Nothing big, just for some background music. :beavis:

Kegerator...

Sounds great Trev.
What are the dimensions of the garage? How many garage doors you going to have? Are the walls finished now or still just studs? Lifts are nice, just remember to allow for clearance for garaged doors to open without hitting car or lift. |

The garage doors have already been done with a high lift setup (really cool!) that takes them right to the ceiling. I will get some measurements and pictures and post them up. Trev |
Wire the walls for something like a Plasma TV.

garage
tv and internet are a must. lots and lots of lights (ceiling and walls)

sounds more like a hang out than a real work place !

It needs to be BIGGER. I have no idea how big it is I just know from past expirence with everyone I know including myself - you need to make it bigger. Example my friend has a 60x40 and he had to add 12" more to the 60" side. Maybe you can make the house smaller to gain more space..........

A stainless polished Pole also atleast 3 metres high for the Dancer :D
And A phone with a separate line  And A fridge!! |
Lots of enclosed storage cabinets, etc. Keeps everything clean when your making a mess.
Gotta agree with Charlie on the Plasma/TV setup. Fridge, shop wash sink with hot and cold water, Heat, A/C, insulated walls, and LOTS of outlets preferrably retractable drop extension cords. |
-30x50 garage w/ attached 30x30 carport w/ 16x80 attic
-single bay is 2 cars deep w/ 10x10 paint/finish/clean room behind the 2nd car no electrical switches/outlets in finish room. lights are recessed above plexiglass. unsure how i want to vent the room yet. -behind the double bay is a 35x20 workshop. -behind the garage is the carport -attic space above will be storage & eventually a couple of bedrooms -walls are 10' tall to allow room to maneuver 8' lumber & add 2post car lift. added extra 4" of footing under pad for car lift. -plumbing for air tools throughout -air compressor & vacuum system for wood tools are enclosed under stairway so i don't have to hear them. -lots of lighting http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ne/garage2.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ne/garage1.jpg |
Very Nice Shane  :hail: . I'll have to stop by sometime and check it out.

Trev, I think I've mentioned my favorite garage web site here before:
www.garagejunkies.net Lot's of ideas there. I made provisions in my garage for a 2-post lift. I have 10 foot side walls but added scissor trusses in one bay. That stall has 13 1/3 feet of clearance to the ceiling (in the center). Plan ahead for floor covering. If you want to epoxy the floor eventually it's a good idea to put down a vapor barrier under the slab. Tom |
