Corbeau GTS vs Recaro Specialist

I'm looking at these style of seats Corbeau GTS, Recaro SPECIALIST, they look simular but is one better than the other?

Track Junky 03-29-2012 09:10 AM

Recaro is the better looking seat IMO.

214Chevy 03-29-2012 10:25 AM

Corbeau makes a good seat. I've owned a pair before and had no complaints. But it's something so sexy about the Recaro Specialist seat. I plan on getting the Recaro's myself this go around. Big chunk of change in the prices differences though. :(

find Recaro's out of an Audi S4

jeff71 03-30-2012 12:26 AM

Recaro 100% I had a pair of the Corbeu GTS II and now have the Recaro. Check out JJCustominterior.com I used Ron to recover my Recaro seats. He also sells the Recaro seats.

Hey Mario,

Ive got a set of corbeau TRS seats in my 67 and a pair of Recaro speed s seats in the 69. Theres no comparison the Recaro quality is outstanding, Leather is better, comfort is better, the seat frame is stronger. Of course you get what you pay for, the Recaro is twice the price. Spend the money go for the Recaro, get your butt in to the seat before you purchase it,its like fitting shoes

BTW- The gaps in the car are looking awesome!

Recaro for the frame.

I've called them like 4-5 times and left a message each time with no return call. I think I'm gonna go with this company here. http://www.motorsportseats.com/recaro/. I've spoken to them a few times and liked their customer service. They've answered all of my questions and always answer the phone. That's a start at earning my business. If JJ Custom Interior won't return my calls before I give them money, I fret at giving them a dime. :_paranoid

Dudeeeeeeeeeeee

Buy the one that fits the best. However I like the Sparco Seats also

The other thing is to make sure that the lower seat cushion fits the profile of your floor. Some seats are made for flat foors other are made with a tilt built into the seat bottom.

Lots of things to consider when buying a seat just make sure it is actually designed to work in a 69 Camaro.

You can call most vendors and ask them what works in your car and they can tell you which will help you narrow down your actually choice. If they can't tell you then you need to see who has a custom seat in there car and if they still fit in the car after installing the seat.

I know most Interior shops by the Recaro with the split headrest and then modify those as it seem to fit well in older muscle cars.

ps - Call Tracy at the recovery room he can give the best advise and since your car is going there you might as well get the seats from him.

I called JJ a few weeks ago and never got a call back either. Bummer cause the seats look nice in the pictures.

Tony_SS 04-04-2012 11:06 AM

If anyone has any interest in Cipher seats, they make some really nice ones. Cost effective too. I'm a dealer and can answer any questions.

DOOM 04-04-2012 12:40 PM

Recaro Specialist will be the seat for sure! Who has the best deal on them??

I got my Recaro's from JJ -- I can tell you they do awesome work but getting a response from them is painful. I ended up driving down to Tacoma WA to pick up my seats because I couldn't wait for them to be shipped and now I need some bushings for my seats, I have been emailing and calling him for the last few months with no response... Great work horrible customer service.

Well, they won't get my business then. I'm in Texas and driving to WA to get a pair of seats is out of the question for me. Therefore, there are plenty of other businesses that offer great products, seats in this case. But, it's the customer service that is golden to me and they have none. Emailing and calling for months is utterly ridiculous.

I agree completely -- it wasn't fun driving 4 hours to pick up my seats but when I originally went with them there were no bad reviews online but things have changed since then. The owner did say he had some health conditions and would be returning emails but I haven't heard a thing and I did email him again.

Mario, back when I ordered my Recaros, I got them from Jim at motorsportseats.com If I remember right, he gave a 10 percent discount for mentioning lateral-G. Not sure if that is still going though.

DSE also sells them, and you know that as soon as you call them there is always someone to pick the phone up right away.

Jim's the guy to talk to.
In today's world of sketchy vendors, he's been solid.
Heck, he's sent me seats multiple times, and only requested that I send him a check AFTER they shipped.

Good guy, timely service, great prices

JJ Custom Interior

Ron has had some health issues, but my seats just arrived and let me say he's one hell of a craftsman.

jeff71 05-13-2012 04:58 PM

Let's see some pics.

This is probably who I'll go with. I've spoken to them a few times and they answered the phone each time. Answered all my questions too. Made me a heck of a deal at that time too, but I wasn't ready to buy then though.

I also just got a reply from Ron regarding emails I sent him months ago and I didn't know he was having health issues till latley. But he mentioned he is super backed up on orders.

BBC71Nova 05-14-2012 05:31 PM

I put in another call to JJ today. Hopefully I get a call back. The seats look fantastic from the pics online. I'm just really hesitant of the potential for delays and poor customer service. Although, *it* happens sometimes and health issues are something that have to be dealt with so I understand that.

jeff71 05-14-2012 06:29 PM

I had Ron recover my Recaro's and had about a 3 week delay but he was swamped, from what I understand it's a 2 person show him and his wife. He answered all my calls, emails & txt.

I order from Jim also, Good service and fair pricing..... Just not worth the grief to try and save 20 bucks on one of the super deals somewhere else.
