Cool man.. I'll try to get up there!

GregWeld 03-31-2012 09:02 AM

Running 2.04 you'd be setting lap records.... for the full 2.8 mile 16 turn course. And you'd be besting a HONDA... :D

Thanks Greg. Cant help but take that as a compliment. Dont think I'll be setting any records but last time at T-Hill I got one session in and ran a 2:08. It was the first and last session of the morning on a cold track. Mechanical issues had me leaving early.

mdprovee 03-31-2012 06:23 PM

Would love to come but family and Easter come first. Good luck and I would love to come watch next time.

Man -- I'd love to see ya running 2 flats!

I learned a thing or two about cold track and cold tires... Won't be makin' those mistakes again!

Have fun! That's a fun track.

Thanks G..... wait til you meet me -- you'll change your tune then.

:willy:

DEIGuy38 03-31-2012 11:11 PM

Gaetano, when I got your email I was ready to head up and meet you, but the wife reminded me it was Easter.and I said so then she reminded me about the kids and I said Oh.

I did 2:10 on a 125cc tag/non shifter go kart. That was a blast.

Have fun.

Track Junky 04-01-2012 05:45 AM

Sounds like a blast. I Heard a shifter kart holds the all time lap record at Infineon. Those things must be fast. Going to try and hit T-Hill a few more times this season so we'll catch each other on the next one.

I doubt it but thanks for the warning

GregWeld 04-01-2012 09:04 AM

I've done the shifter karts...

0 to 100 in 6 seconds

2.5 g's lateral

You downshift coming into a corner then accelerate through it...

If I was a younger guy I'd be in shifter karts!

Track Junky 04-01-2012 09:18 AM

Greg, if you get the time while your out here you need to experience Infineon Raceway. I think you would really like it.

Bucketlist2012 04-01-2012 02:05 PM

I look forward to meeting you guys soon..

Not next week, but sometime this season for sure.

You all sound like really Cool, Honest, Fun to be with People..

I will come ruin all that soon... :lateral:

You can call me Mike, or you can call me Crazy..

I am both..

GregWeld 04-01-2012 07:08 PM

Mike -- Just sign up for Yellar group -- and make sure to check with Charley about the kind of, and color of, clothing you'll need.

Better start shopping now! Them pants are hard to find!

LOL, I tried but he swallowed my mem card.

He played with tire pressure and added some tow but I believe he beat his old time.

Track Junky 04-08-2012 07:34 PM

Got home an hour ago and just finished dinner. What a fricken blast!! Most fun a guy can have with his pants on!! It's been 6 months since I'd been on a road course and I cant believe I had a case of the nerves. Weather in the morning was nice and brisk and we know how are engines like brisk weather. I had to easily be doing 140 mph plus before entering into turn one. My new brake pads were fricken awesome. Could not believe how well the car was stopping. 1st session I did 5 laps. Car was weaving side to side down the straight due to a bad alignment. I wasn't paying attention when dude aligned my car and the toe was set at -1/32. Scored some toe plates and fixed the toe. Second session car was much better but tire temps raised air pressures to high and I was a bit loose. Third session was much better but I had to chase the track temps as the asphalt temp kept going up so I chased air pressure all day. 4th session was fun as hell. My fricken GoPro was set on pictures so I never got vid which totally pissed me off. I was so stoked to get home and load vid. Had some exciting side by side passing in turns and on peoples tails at the same time. Man am I pissed I screwed that up. The whole day was about tuning the car and fifth session I adjusted shocks again but when I got in and felt my steering wheel it was wobbly as hell. Somehow I managed to tear one of the holes in the steering wheel where it mounts to the hub. Wasn't going to chance it so I called it a day. My best time of the day was a 2:07.4. Sorry no vids guys, I'm super disappointed about that but I promise not to screw it up next time.
Still not done tuning car so I will most likely be going back next month.

you need a better wheel and a QD hub then. For 6 mos out thats not bad. Plus having the learn the car a bit.

Track Junky 04-08-2012 07:59 PM

I was pretty confident I was going to do even better my fifth session. I looked around and noticed alot of guys were leaving and not going out the fifth session. I was thinking to myself, "ahhh yes, this next session is going to be good". Darn steering wheel!!
An Asian guy in a newer Z06 w/ Hoosiers, bunch of carbon fiber, and a big azz wing got on my tail coming out of 15 and I pulled him down the straight. I talked to him in the paddock afterwards and he said he was putting down 545 to the rear wheels. I was like no way dude I'm probably putting down 480 and you still couldn't catch me. He claimed the wing slowed him down.

Flash68 04-08-2012 08:01 PM

Dang dude nice goin on the GoPro!

Glad you had a fruitful session out there tuning.....

and 480 to the wheels? You friggin sandbagger...

You have no idea how pissed I am about the GoPro!! First thing I did when I got home was slip the sd card in my lap top anticipating some radical vid. I was side by side trying to make a pass going up the bypass and around turn 6, made the pass and got on the tail of another Porche when all of a sudden another Porsche flew by and passed us both heading into 7  . What a fricken blast!! Man I was looking forward to seeing that on vid.
Cant wait till your motor is done

No Kiddin' .

Gonna try and shoot down to your shop this weekend. Few things we need to talk about ;).

intocarss 04-08-2012 08:27 PM

That's get it done Nothing like being on the track with some competition

and cough up that memory card!

Ron in SoCal 04-08-2012 08:35 PM

Yeah, all wings slow down Vettes. That's why they put them on...

Great story Gae! Get that bad boy sorted and get back out there soon so you can kick some azz this summer...

Track Junky 04-08-2012 08:36 PM

OK Jerry, now I know which card Vince is talking about. We were adjusting bumpsteer at his shop with a bumpsteer gauge. I'll put that in my project update later. To lazy to run down to my truck right now.
The only thing you'll see on the Gopro card is my ugly mug taking photos of myself as I'm facing the GoPro and pushing the button on top thinking I'm in vid mode.

Thanks Ron!! Feels good to be back in the saddle  .

Just checked the NCRC schedule. Next one in May is on a Friday and I cant make that one so looks like I'll have to wait a couple months until June. It's going to be a long two months.

cool, fire curtain going up weds. no aero talk till we get the suspension where it needs to be.

Vince@Meanstreets 04-08-2012 10:46 PM

ok, fine but i do have a nice design for a grill close off and underhood evacuation.

Vegas69 04-08-2012 10:55 PM

Sounds like one hell of a good time. My go pro is a POS as well. They are supposed to default to video but mine doesn't. Anyway, how was the increased front suspension travel? Sounds like you were playing cat and mouse as expected. Finding that balance seems easy on a clean sheet of paper but it's not realistic. I can't wait to smoke your ass at Buttonwillow. :D

You sure you guys have uploaded the firmware update for it? Since I did 4 or 5 months ago you have to be a moron to screw it up. Ooops.

Set the function to video and it's one touch to turn on/record... and one touch to turn it off. Never need to hit any other buttons.

http://gopro.com/support/hd-hero-firmware-update/

Vegas69 04-08-2012 11:05 PM

I read the instructions when I bought it and it said it defaulted to the video setting. If I had to catch some email, youfag video, twitter jabronie, facebook moron video, excuse my stanky ass. I expected it to work as advertised. Get that Nascar engine built so I can knotch your ass on my belt. :D

GregWeld 04-08-2012 11:05 PM

Gae -- Glad you were ripping it up!

I hate the GoPro.... wanted to turn mine into a Go THROW... POS little camera has screwed me more times -- Dyno pulls missed -- good laps missed.

Got the Contour GPS and love it....

Good news. missing that last session screwed me pretty good. I really needed to see what my last shock adjustment would have done. We'll get into more detail when i see you.
