Feedback on some storage cabinets and tool chest.
I have been looking for a while to outfit my private shop with really nice cabinets for tools and supplies.
I have looked at Lista and Moduline and was not impressed with the way they feel for the dough they cost. I cam across Vault garage and spoke to them in detail and they seem very well made. I also considered BaldHead issue i am having is i would like to physically see the units before i plunk down 10k or more for storage. any suggestions on others i can look into? I am looking for top of the line for a long term final investment. |
I went to a local larger scale cabinet manufactuer and had upper wall cabinets made. Built metal frames for the work bench that allowed 3/4" HD particleboard panels to be dropped in, then when to a local sheet metal shop and had the bend up 14 gauge cold rolled steel with a 7" backsplash and 2" front edge. Then put Craftsman tool boxes under the benches. Very satisfied with the results after 8 years of usage. Very cost effective compared to the prefabbed garage systems I've seen marketed.

Check out www.racecabinet.com and dont look back. They have the most badass cabinets on the market. If quality is important you should check them out. If they are good enough for Nascar,NHRA and the likes they must be doing something right :D

thanks for the link on racecabinet
have you seen these in person and are these a few steps above the Moduline cabinets? |
Yes I have. I happen to know the President of the company and have toured the facilty. It is mindblowing what they can do.
I have several customers that have C-Tech race cabinets and they are top notch. The latching system is totally awesome and I believe they hold some sort of patent on this feature. You really need to see the quality and how they are built. They are built to last and the adjustability is insane. They are not cheap by any means, but quality there is no question. |
I am in the same boat but I can honestly say I would rather put the $$$$ into my cars. I am not knocking the quality but I like the idea of the wall cabinets and the sheet metal base with the tool boxes underneath.

This cost me right about 150$ to build out, the Craftsman boxes go on sale all the time, and it seems to have turned out well, easy to build.

Baldhead cabinets out of Bend Oregon are awesome! I've seen 'em and that's the cabinets I would order if I was needing some for my shop. |
