Pro Street to Pro Touring

I can purchase a very nice Pro Street car for a really good price.
The car has a fantastic body, seams, paint, interior glass and is a nice runner. How hard is it to convert normal Pro Street car to a Pro Touring car and is it cheaper to convert a Pro Street car which has been fully tubbed than a stock body car?

Thanks TJ

i say go for it! the only real downfall with them is usually the cages are less that favorable for a street car.

bad penny was a pro-street car before. and i personally wouldn't feel safe driving that car without a helmet on.

We need details. What does it currently have and what exactly are you wanting to do with it?

Thanks for the replies.

I'm looking to purchase the car as a roller, install a new LS3 with a 6 speed auto and more than likely do a Ride Tech level 3 system. At this point I'm not sure if I want to do the "air" system or just the coil over. It looks like there is about $2,800 difference and I'm not sure if I can tell the difference as I have ridden with Bret in cars with both systems.

The car will be more of a fun car v. a full "Optima" challange car. However, I still want it to handle like a late model car. I thought about a Morrison full frame but I think it will be out of my price range as I want to stay in 45K to 50K range.

I'm w Rod on this. Looks like a great platform. If you're down for a dub nickle project and want a PT car, fix those tubs, get your rear frame rails back in position and you're all set for a Ridetech set up. How's the motor and cam? Might need to detune a little if it's as bad arse as it looks...

You want to trade a clean T/K 68 Camaro for it?? :unibrow:

NOPANTS68 04-26-2012 11:51 PM

That's one of those rare pro street cars that sits just right. I wouldn't change it other than the grille and some updated wheels. If you want a PT car, keep hunting.

Thanks for the replies. The car was built in 2009, it has a SB with a roller cam, turbo 400 and a Ford 9 inch with Moser axles and 4:11 gears.

I'm still on the fence regarding the car.
What do you think it would cost to redo the tubs and change the car to a Pro touring style? I would more than likely sell the motor trans, wheels tires and all the Pro Street items to offset some of the costs and I would go with the Ride Tech level 3 coil over system and Kore brakes, LS3 hot cam motor and an auto 6 speed.

If I pay 22k for the car do you think I can say in the 40K to 45K range?
