Could you elaborate on this please? What is the difference between the R888 and the RA1? Interestingly, Toyo doesn't even list this size on their website at: http://toyotires.com/tire/pattern/proxes-ra1 Thanx! |
I ran RA-1's for 6 years and then Toyo introduced the R888 so I decided to try it. My experience has been that R888's tend to fall off prematurely even before the tread pattern has warn due to hardening up. The RA-1's get faster with less tread and are fastest when they are down to slicks.
Toyo recently discontinued anything bigger than a 275. |

I like my R888's. I think age plays into diminishing grip in the r888. My current rears are only 6 months old and down to damn near slicks and they are still gripping nicely. I ran my originals down to shaved depth and let them sit on the shelf for a year. They weren't very good once I put them back on. They had been heat cycled out on top of the age. They don't make the RA1 if big boy sizes.
