1966 Ford Fairlane GT rendering

Hey,
I just wanted to see everyone's reaction with what I have come up with for a FORD. I wanted this car to prove im not just into GTO's or GM products. I want to build this car soon I just wanted to see what type of reaction it gets.

camcojb 05-14-2012 10:23 PM

It would be pretty hard not to like that! :hail:

COYBILT 05-14-2012 10:26 PM

I want to get started on it in the worst way, the engine might be a cammer but that depends on the budget of the project and someones taste.

garickman 05-14-2012 10:30 PM

Looks sweet, do you still have your shop?

camcojb 05-14-2012 10:39 PM

I actually have a 66 Fairlane with a cammer in my garage right now. It's not a pro tour style build, and it's not mine................... :D

Better have a big budget for the cammer. Those make my TP seem like a cheap date. Hope you find that guy. :D

For some reason I like the Fairlane with an FE. :_paranoid

Flash68 05-14-2012 10:57 PM

I like it. But yeah who wouldnt? :unibrow:

I knew FETorino would have sumthin to say about it. :D

COYBILT 05-14-2012 11:14 PM

well the other choice is a boss Nine engine for the average guy
I am going to see this thing come to life one way or another.

Hey you can build a really nice Wedge 427 SO with an AL Shelby or Pond block and Edelbrock or Blue Thunder AL heads real easy for half the cost of the cammer. Blue Thunder sells a Weber intake for the Wedge heads and plenty of guys run them with a stack style FI. :D

If you go cammer beware of Bill Coon selling cammer heads. He has burned a lot of people for a lot of $$. Give Robert Pond a call.

A Kaase Boss nine would be pretty sweet but heavy.

Yeah we will see where the project ends up, it is going to start with a phone call from somebody. That phone call will be someone wanting me to build this for them or someone buying my GTO.
I want to see a cammer in the car though, I was talking with Randy Richie of performance associates about his cammer and that would be the hot ticket.

torino420 05-15-2012 05:37 AM

Cammer or Boss9 would work for me. :unibrow:

COYBILT 05-15-2012 07:03 AM

Lowfast 05-15-2012 08:48 AM

Love it, before I picked up my Falcon I was headed, cash in hand, to pick up a 66' Fairlane, unfortunately the guy sold it out from under me. Still love them though, once th Falcon is done a 66 Lane might be my next project. This one looks killer!

214Chevy 05-15-2012 08:52 AM

Hells yeah!! Do I like it?? What kinda question is that? I'm a GM man, but on the other hand, I'm also a car man. And I like anything that is that mickey fickey awesome. I can't wait to see this one come alive.

COYBILT 05-15-2012 06:31 PM

Well Im glad its really well received, I was amazed on how much better received it was then my own GTO build. It really is a killer concept that needs to come to life.

SBDave 05-15-2012 06:48 PM

How does a Fairlane compare to a Galaxie? After watching some vintage races featuring Galaxie's I became obsessed with them....and dreamed of a pro tour version.

Dave

Dave they were smaller and lighter with a unibody instead of a full frame. How about a Galaxie PT car :D

SBDave 05-23-2012 11:49 AM

Sweet video. Build the Fairlane!!! I keep eyeing Galaxie's in the classifieds, they aren't too pricey but I haven't looked into aftermarket support.

I have wanted to build one of these ever since the yellow one that was built a few years ago. I can't find a picture of it but it was yellow with a chocolate interior, and I think it had a NASCAR motor in it. Love the direction you have layed out in the rendering

COYBILT 05-23-2012 10:34 PM

it seems everyone has spoken and I need to build this car. GEORGE POTEET WHERE ARE YOU!!!!???

Hilborn sells an IR EFI set up for the Cammer using a FAST controller.

http://www.hilborninjection.com/prod...=343&CatId=176

Just add $7k to the bill.

If I won the lotto I could do one to match my stock 67 GTA convertible.

For now I've blown my hot rod wad building my Tunnelport Torino and still have a lot of $$ left to spend.

COYBILT 05-24-2012 12:03 PM

i think i might have to build new engine mounts for my GTO, It would be fun to put a cammer in there. Ford GTO

SBDave 05-24-2012 06:07 PM

What are some good sources/companies for Ford products? I just saw the Roadster Shop is building a Fairlane but it's got their whole Fast track frame and suspension.

Dave

Ford Mustang/Falcon = Lots of kits from bolt in to weld in from lousy mustang II Pinto spindles all the way to trick engineered race parts.

Now for a Fairlane or Galaxie that is a different story.

RS is building a 63 Fairlane. They just built a 61 Starliner custom chassis (look in the custom gallery) and they are building me a chassis for my 69 Torino.

Several companies sell modular suspension set ups that you could fab into your existing frame (if you have one like a Galaxie). For a non Mustang, IMO, it makes more sense performance wise and financially to just build a complete chassis. Again JMO.

FETorino 05-28-2012 11:21 PM

Ok here's you body. :D

http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/2988055888.html

Grab this and the motor from Kieth and start fabbing. Now you just need to find somebody to fund it. :unibrow:
