Yeah, Reggie was trying to get it for the owner of Classic Industries. I'm real happy for Charley, that's a cool car. We'll have to take it for a spin............:drive:

jeff71 05-18-2012 06:43 PM

I seen the light weight something he bought. Was he wearing the denim shirt again? Haha

Charley Lillard or CLILL here on the board if you truly do not know. Also the owner of Jackass and MULE and a host of other fine vehicles in his collection

John510 05-18-2012 08:19 PM

Thanks! Eveyone always talks about him buying all the nice cars so I was curious.

Stuart Adams 05-18-2012 09:54 PM

Awesome. ZL 1's are so cool.

Vince@Meanstreets 05-19-2012 12:21 AM

Tom.A 05-19-2012 09:48 AM

Very cool.

That was the top seller and I think he also bought the 66 Ford 427 (no#8)

skatinjay27 05-19-2012 12:56 PM

what a historic car! very awesome.

but why spend so much on a car just to pro-tour it.

WSSix 05-19-2012 02:45 PM

When I saw the title I was expecting a new ZL1 car not a 69. Neat looking car. I really like the clear hood scoop.

Yes, he bought the Fairlane for someone else.

JohnC 05-20-2012 07:35 AM

Wow. Very cool piece, Charley. Congrats. What are your plans with it?

I actually thought for a second that the "Charley's Garage" after the DSE spot on HOT ROD TV monday just might be you. I know you have a nice enough collection for it. That is for sure..

One time at Hot August Nights -- Silver Auction -- I was standing next to Charley and we had been talking about a '32 Ford that was really done nicely.... So I said -- "I want to watch (meaning bid on) that '32 when it comes up" --- and he says -- "Yeah, I'm going to buy it". My heart sunk - my shoulders drooped -- I hung my head... as I watched him bid. I wanted that car. No way was I going to bid against him.

Nice buy Mister "I'm B M"!! (private joke - and not what you think)

waynieZ 05-20-2012 06:14 PM

Awesome car to an awesome collector. A match made in heaven!
Congrats Charlie.

Wait, was that the charcoal one?

I remember when he bought that one. Saw him a couple days later. God that's a nice car.

clill has WAY too many cool cars. If "He who dies with the most toys, wins" holds true, Charlie is taking 1st, 2nd, and possibly 4th (he'd let Greg have 3rd)

GregWeld 05-20-2012 11:04 PM

No --- it was a dark blue -- with a killer flame job -- and dark deep red interior. After he bought it I was glad - as it turned out he didn't like driving it. So maybe he saved my arse...

You might be thinking of "Stacked"??

I think he didn't like driving it because it was TOO nice. ;)

Greg is lucky I bought that blue 32 and he didn't. It was all show car and drove like a POS.

No one saved you from the Red one! LOL sorry had to do it, you left yourself wide open.

clill 05-21-2012 02:32 PM

I bought it but I had no intention of buying it. The price was too low to not bid. It's not something I can afford to keep right now so I conned a stupid friend into buying it. It will be well cared for.

rwhite692 05-21-2012 02:44 PM

I had no idea Robin Gibb owned a ZL1....

:D

When I saw 400K as the price, I thought wow Charley did it again. 400K is 400K, but a good buy for a historic car. Cool car.
