67 camaro with a body kit

Has anyone seen pictures of this car before? It looks a lot like the body kit that titojones has been building. I found the pictures on www.68rscamaro.com

DAWG 03-05-2006 05:29 AM

damn thats ugly.
poor Camaro

Sales@Dutchboys 03-05-2006 05:40 AM

ALL I can say it MAN thats ugly!

almcbri 03-05-2006 07:17 AM

I don't care for it either. The big spoiler looks a little ricey to me.

those rear taillights do look a lot like ATS body kit pictures. All in all it is different after giving it a close look. It appears the car is from a different country.

Sales@Dutchboys 03-05-2006 07:20 AM

If you really look at it for a while..... I guess it could be a cool track car
but thats it.....

MODO Innovations 03-05-2006 08:00 AM

I think I saw this ugly thing on ebay awhile back. I think it would look better if the tail was about 3' taller.

jonny51 03-05-2006 08:32 AM

No way that thing is sweet, where do I get a kit?

DAWG 03-05-2006 09:08 AM

your kidding RIGHT?
I wouldnt get caught driving that butt ugly thing.
See this is what happens when a rice fanatic gets ahold of some american muscle.

Mikael A 03-05-2006 09:20 AM

It is not a kit .that car is all metal
and i think its from norway

mazspeed 03-05-2006 01:31 PM

Great way to kill an American classic. Should be sponsored by Rice O Roni. Different strokes for different folks, but damn.

promax/vennom#16 03-05-2006 01:32 PM

???

I agree, that looks awful!!I would'nt be caught dead in that thing!! :thmbsdwn: :omg:

srh3trinity 03-05-2006 03:58 PM

I think that a much (and I repeat much) milder body treatment could be tolerable on an older Camaro, but this is far too much, it takes the body line down way too far, the taillights are pretty cool but they would probably look more at home on an early 2nd gen. I do like the color on the car. Just so I am clear though, I don't like this body work in the least.

ArisESQ 03-05-2006 06:25 PM

although im not a fan of the kits styling... at all... i still think its pretty cool... if it has the power to backup the look at least.

Hdesign 03-20-2006 05:35 AM

That's ummm........interesting. Not my taste but someone spent a S-load of $$$ on it. I hope they like it at least.

I beleive that car is from Sweeden. I have another pick. I like the stance on this pic except the spoliler.

No, that car is from norway, not sweden!!!
I think the front looks ok but the rest sucks.
The body kit is all steel so it might be abit heavy as well.

ProStreet R/T 03-21-2006 06:32 AM

The body kit is terrible, but I LOVE THE WHEELS! :hail: I've always wondered what Ferari 360 CS wheels would look like on a camaro, and IT IS GOOD. :unibrow:

jigga99 03-22-2006 03:29 PM

ferrari wheels? those are BBS wheels!!

Yes but they are nearly identical to the CS wheels, which just might be made by bbs. :willy:

Damn True 03-22-2006 03:37 PM

Some dude from a Swedeish car club posted that, and a number of other very nice cars on PT.com many months ago.

I dig it.

You gotta remember that northern europe is heavilly into Touring Car racing. This build was clearly influenced by that. Good to see some creativity applied to a 1st Gen. I think we have enough SS stripes, OE spoilers and chrome.

If the thing runs well on top of that...double cool.

Teetoe_Jones 03-22-2006 04:37 PM

I have to say, it is a pretty close rip off from my body kit. Do you guys hate my version as much as his interpretation of it?

Tyler

Damn True 03-22-2006 04:53 PM

Not at all Tyler. I wish you could get it (and/or the other thing we've talked about) into production.

srh3trinity 03-22-2006 04:56 PM

Tyler, yours looks much better. The other kit doesn't follow the body lines that well in my opinion and it is too low in the front. Your kit follows the curves of the front fenders much better, and the intercooler peaking out of the grill opening is going to be awesome.

Sales@Dutchboys 03-22-2006 05:25 PM

NO! yours is WAY better I mean WAY

Steve68 03-22-2006 07:50 PM

Your's is better, his looks good for all steel, but has a big ricer/touring race car theme, NO stickers, NO wings

Hdesign 03-22-2006 08:05 PM

I hesitate to make a suggestion cuz I really like the direction you're going in. I kinda think those fog/driving lights are probably 1/2 to a 1/3 too small. Maybe add bigger lights, add a recessed border region around them or use those areas aside of the center air intake as secondary vents that mimic the shape of the hide-away headlight covers (maybe scale them down in the vertical dimension). I would also get smaller or more angular sideview mirrors. :)

Your rocker panel extension is perfect though.

I'm guessing Kris helped you with the design...he did a great job, as usual.

Um, no. 100% John McBride. He is one hell of a designer.

Tyler

Kris Horton 03-23-2006 01:01 AM

Yup, that one's all John. I just did the follow-up 3D renderings. I think the original renderings came out in CHP or Hot Rod right before I graduated high school. Wasn't in the biz yet. :)

Hdesign 03-23-2006 05:42 AM

I stand corrected. OOPS! :) John does awesome work as well. Perhaps I thought it was Kris because most of the artwork describing the design on your site is a 3D rendering. Though I did also like the thumbnail detail sketch you have on there...that must be John's. That sketch shows what I was thinking about regarding the driving light detail. Don't get me wrong, it's a killer looking car and real head turner.

Kris, what software do you use? It looks like Alias Studio. Are your wheels photoshopped or do you build the database in 3D also? They always look so realistic. I'm a big fan of your unique style.

Ben

Kris Horton 03-23-2006 08:04 AM

Ben,

In short, all of my stuff is 3D modeled. I only use Photoshop for basic touch-up, texture design, and final image export. I'll send you a PM with some more info so we can keep this thread on track.

Kris

Hdesign 03-23-2006 08:50 AM

Yeah,
Good idea...sorry for the hijack. :)

Damn True 03-23-2006 08:52 AM

Tyler,
Ive often thought that a standard grille (with the lights inboard of the headlights) would look a bit better, then the holes in the valance could be used for brake cooling ducts.

Especially if it were on my car. ;)

Hey I just wanna say first that Tyler and ATS are Pro-Touring Pioneers in my opinion. The body kit was the beginning and Tyler had a clear vision from the beginning for what he wanted and where he wanted to go with it. I think the final design of the bodykit that Tyler and I came up with is agressive, clean and doesn't give the 1st gen Camaro an undesirable japanese tuner appearance. I think it actually gives it a functional muscular look that looks killer in person even in the unfinished stages. We worked for a few months on this and we spent a lot of time flushing out ideas, playing with different surfaces and shapes. The rear wing has already been copied by a couple people including a green 69 Camaro in a certain magazine....
Currently progress is being made to finish some of the original 50/50 bodykit parts and hopefully production parts will be available very soon. I'll leave that up to Tyler to talk about when the time is right.
Anyways, here's a few development sketches that some may not have seen. Thought I'd share.

John

XcYZ 03-25-2006 04:43 PM

Thanks for posting those up, John. I'm not sure how many people know that you were the designer that took Tyler's ideas and formed them into substance.

....and the final rendering. The black one was used for ATS promotional material at SEMA 2005.

John

GT350 03-26-2006 04:14 AM

Sales@Dutchboys 03-26-2006 05:25 AM

I LOVE those renderings!
