Make it eight. I think Gonzo's going as well...

toddshotrods 06-17-2012 03:30 PM

I should be there, considering I'm already here. I am trying to decide if I'm doing all three days this year (as a spectator again), since I still don't have a hot rod ready...

Last year this time, there was a list of possible SMOY and SROY contestants, as well as enthusiasts coming to soak it all in - why is it so quiet this year?

Making me :_paranoid

CarterHickmanDesigns 06-17-2012 08:28 PM

I will be there with new toys to sell! :)

aany001 06-17-2012 09:16 PM

Add 2 more we will be there!

k7king 06-20-2012 05:40 AM

I'll be there with my 63 Tempest

Spiffav8 06-20-2012 10:26 AM

Sweet! This is looking better and better every day. Looking forward to meeting a few more of my fellow :lateral: brothers.

hifi875 06-20-2012 02:08 PM

ProPont 06-20-2012 04:39 PM

Wouldn't miss it. It's my favorite show. Bringing my son also, will be his first time at the Big One!!

Not a bad idea. I know Iron Works is going to have their rig located by the autocross track. Think that's a big enough beacon.

There ya go!

Garage Dog 65 06-21-2012 11:04 AM

The Ironworks hauler is going to be setup right behind the autocross area.

Should be a convenient location for a little Lat-G gathering. :lateral:

wiedemab 06-21-2012 11:29 AM

I'll be there along with my Dad - -in my 52 Chevy Truck and his '67 Chevy II

Musclerodz 06-21-2012 11:39 AM

Give me a time and will be there:thumbsup:

toddshotrods 06-25-2012 11:58 AM

We've been throwing lots of logs on the fire here, to get it nice and toasty for you guys. 90s and lots of humidity seem to be the norm... The (un-watered) lawns are almost completely brown already and "summer" just started.

Bring sunscreen, sombreros, umbrellas, and a big drink budget...

Lol, better for people to know and come prepared. Anyone can watch the weather and see what's been going on in the Midwest this spring and summer. We're supposed to hit triple digits here in Columbus tomorrow, with good old Ohio-class humidity to boot. :wow: :faint:

Garage Dog 65 06-29-2012 07:04 AM

Jim

 We *only* hit 100 yesterday, mere mid-upper 90s today. Being flat, Columbus usually has a nice breeze. It felt like sitting behind a radiator fan yesterday.

Garage Dog 65 06-29-2012 07:49 AM

I shot the sidewalk with an infrared yesterday at 5 pm - 150 degrees ! Beautiful !!!

Todd, Catch ya at the Ironworks trailer if you decide to come out.

Jim

GregWeld 06-29-2012 08:00 AM

...... keep talking...... it's really reinforcing why I've never been there.

Garage Dog 65 06-29-2012 08:43 AM

It's the reason my wife seldom goes along. There is just no place to get away from the pavement, sunburns and the heat. It can get rough.

Smokin! :D I'm definitely going to the show, not sure what times and days yet. I've done all three days for the past couple years, I think two days the year before that, due to rain one day. I haven't decided whether I'm in for the whole kit and kaboodle this year yet, or what day(s) I'm going if not. If I'm there then, I'll come say hey.

I actually thought about you today as I walked out of work and waded through the "Ohio soup" to my car.

To get a break from the heat just go walk through the indoor vendors, catch some of the talks and demonstrations, and the stuff in the main auditorium (Disclaimer: I've never done the second two things). Going inside, enjoying the band, and watching the awards presentations and parade through the building is the ultimate cap for an awesome weekend. You're out of the oven, preferably with a beverage in hand, and all the sights, sounds, and sensations are still fresh in your mind as you sit and enjoy.

Plus, it's only three days... We've probably all suffered through much worse, for much less, in our lives. ;)

GregWeld 06-29-2012 08:44 PM

I'm actually just kidding about not coming because of the weather... it's really more that I'm busy. I've been gone almost all of June -- and Rudy would really like his car this summer... I've only had it 16 months now. Hey! What's he want for free - his money back?

Rear end is all in and set - took it all out today and started on the floor replacement.... once that's done I'm good to give it back to him. So I'm jammin' on it daily now.

So, you traded the one, the only, Hot & Sticky Columbus Mega Show, for a little race in a dinky little town that thinks it's a whole country, and romping around Europe in a big Benz with a driver - you gotta get your priorities in order mister!

I hope I'm still here, or have plans to come back for the show, by the time you make it here. I wanna see you lose your cool. :faint:

I think I'll just come to the West Coast someday to see the little red roadster. It's a car I will always remember because I saw something in me through it, and it changed my thinking and plans...

Spiffav8 07-04-2012 08:08 PM

Hate to say it but it looks like Laurie and I have had a last minute change of plans. It came down to Laurie's work schedule, which is anything but flexible. So our plan is to stay home and relax. While it's a bummer to miss out on the fun, I am looking forward to some down time with my girl.

See you all at SEMA! :unibrow:
