67' Toyota 2000GT
Something about the pictures makes the car look like a model, but it looks awesome nonetheless. Thought you guys would enjoy it.

I know one guy on this site that will like that. :unibrow: Wonder if I can talk him into making his look like that. That car is very cool. Maybe have it ready for Power Tour next year.

I remember a Japanese guy that shipped his over to California to hit up Good Guys Del Mar and a couple other shows a a few years back. Matt |
meh.. over priced and look like an embellished Z.. not saying that they are not nice looking.. but id take a Z and put in an LS7 in that bish.
if anything.. i think the frontend is HIDEOUS.. but the rest is beautiful. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...85831394_n.jpg looks similar, no? http://cornerbalance.files.wordpress...008/11/p11.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...49852650_n.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/...39bf164eef.jpg |
Front end is artwork. There were 61 built for the US. Handmade by Yamaha for Toyota. Mine has 100,000 miles and does not have a squeak or rattle. Magnesium knock off wheels, 3 carbs, 4 wheel independent supension, engine oil cooler, 5 speed trans DOHC, Chronometer in the dash, signal seeking radio. Killer cars.
|
I like it.
|
i agree... that front end is a thing of beauty!
sure its got the same body shape but that z has no where near the class of the toyota. thats my opinion based soly on just looking at those pics sisnce i have never had seen the toyota before and never care to look into 70-80 imports... |
Very Cool.
|
I agree, it does look great. However, is it just me, or does it look like Toyota "borrowed?" those lines from the Jag?
|
|
yes Lilly.. hideous.
you are a baller..and got cool ass cars that i love for sure but it still an awkward frontend mainly from the headlights. http://imagemacros.files.wordpress.c...ur_opinion.jpg |
lol
me and my buds ALWAYS quote that! |
Beautiful car. I don't care much for the headlights, but love the timeless lines.Maybe stuff a 2JZ with nice billet single turbo and call it a day.
|
Cool looking cars. I had never heard or seen one before. That white one is gorgeous. Are the visible lights driving lights and the headlights are under the doors on top?
Charley, is your car a US car or imported? Are there any imported ones in the country that you're aware of? On a side note since I'm thinking about imported Japanese cars, there is a JDM civic in town. Of all the places in this country that you could find something like that it had to be this small town in the middle of nowhere Kansas. He was sitting beside me at a stop light, and I was checking out his lightweight five spoke rims. Didn't even notice it was a RHD car for a minute. I just kept thinking there's something different about the car, lol. Light bulb. |

Yes those are driving lights and the headlights pop up. Mine is a US car and yes there are some imported ones in the US. In 2007 at the Monterrey Historics there was a gathering and there were 27 parked in a row. Pretty amazing. In 1968 Shelby raced them.

I remember when I worked for I Magnin in the Carmel Plaza back in the very early 80's and I had just gotten finished reading an Autoweek magazine and in those days, they'd feature some old classic on the last page.Well this issue was on the 2000GT...the very next day BAM...there's a white one in the underground parking lot! I was all over that car like white on rice...I'll never forget that day! |
Those cars at just gorgeous!
|
What are the panels for just aft of the front wheelwells?
|
Those panels behind the front tires are hinged doors that fold down. Drivers side is the air cleaner and a fluid reservoir and passenger side is battery access.
|
I always thought those cars were so badass and historically important, congrats Charlie on such a pristine example! :hail:
|
Carroll Shelby campaigned two of these cars way back when....
Scooter Patrick and Dave Jordan driving. http://www.supercars.net/gallery/119513/1508/647585.jpg |
I'm digging that car. Looks awesome.
|
Those shelby ones look SO awesome. Sucks they're so expensive. I'd like to see more of them.
