Why such a huge driveshaft tunnel?

I think it's to clear the top two rails of the tube chassis which I also assume is the center bracing. Look at the pics of the chassis with the engine and tranny mock up. And to the builder...that's just wrong bro to keep this from us for the past two years. LOL!!:D Nonetheless, the shoebox looks great. I love the bead rolling on the floor pans. Keep the pics coming!!

Another '55 back on the road is a good thing...especially one built by you.

The main frame runs through the middle of the car , which is tall for strenght , like a pro-mod ,

I love the new B pillar. Very cool design. Great job on the entire car!

65 Acadian 07-05-2012 02:08 PM

Doing a great job Rich.

Rich's previous build a 55 Chev convertible was Goodguys Street Machine of the Year winner a couple of years ago. All built in his home shop.

Well - I'm in love again!

Really cool build. We knocked around doing a similar "pillar" mod. I must say I'm liking how that's turning out!

Ricochet 07-06-2012 12:14 PM

Looking forward to see this one come about. As mentioned...The B pillar treatment is awesome looking. Keep up the great work!

Anyone have pics of the other SMOTY 55 convertible? I would love to see it if it's anything close to what this sweet baby is turning out to be.

Guys, use the link in his signature if y'all would like to see it. The link he typed has a typo. No big deal just making sure others see it. LOL!! "trail" not "trial." LOL!!

wrp 07-07-2012 07:40 AM

3Deuce 12-26-2012 11:34 AM

I'm regretting not going with round tube for my chassis. Beyond that, seeing people build cars at this level in their garage is incredibly encouraging. Yet depressing to see how far off the mark you are comparably! :D LOL! Beautiful work.
