Neal Lea in the LS9 57,Was asked to politely leave the course,, The 57 is BadAss,, |
cant take them alabama boys nowhere im tellin ya.
|
Yep ,, They didn't have on badges & weren't pack'n, So were else could he do it and not get a ticket,,, Heck ,they just got the car finished and loaded on the trailer ,about 5pm thursday,, and headed out of Bama,, It was a Shake down/Tune run before he got serious,,, He didn'tknow it would be his last,,, Damn Yankees
|
Gonna have to get that boy some driven lessons, I dont think he gave The Ironworks chassis or those Michelin's a fighting chance. Sucks that they kicked him off the track...I did'nt know the autocross was such a serious event.
|
Guys like that are why memberships exist, so you can yank them. This isn't formula drift, this is autocross, and assholes like that make it harder for the regular folks to get insurance and take up a ton of time while course workers reset the course.
|
GOTN,Yes us Rdneck Like to have Fun and drive um like we stole - um, I guess that's a sin to some that are trailer haulers/ autocross freaks,, Give-um a thrashing ,You can by new tires,, If it won't take it you don't need it !!

I've spectated at a few events, never autocrossed. Take it for what it's worth. It seems the track is kept pretty small and tight. Kinda regulates how much momentum you can build up. Strategically placed barricades here and there but mostly just fence and a lot of folks standing up against it. Seems a bad place to "do your own thing". Regardless of talent or intentions, that was really poor judgement.

Neal Lea is a super good guy... and was no doubt just having fun.
BTW -- is it just my computer or was this the worst quality video ever posted? |

I could tell it was fast, but I could not tell what was going on. |
Thanks Greg for saying that about Neal,,,Yes poor quaility phone,, Doon't care if it was Neal or not,, No One Was In DANGER, maybe the cones,,Again HE IS NOT an ASSHOLE,, Not a profesional driver - NO,, LOves to thrash one -Yes,,
|
I'd like to see a better video of this if one is available. Car sounds ridiculous. If it is really from Bama I gotta keep an eye out. I'd like to check it out up close.
|
Worst video ever! I can't see **it.
|
Rodger told me that 57 had something like 6000 original miles on it when they put the Ironworks chassis in it !!:faint:
|
looks pretty good if you shrink the screen to 1"x1".
cone happy. no one was hurt sure but it delays the hell out of an event. Nothing sucks more than waiting 2 hours in line to be told you can't run cause of delays. needs a dough nut party area. gg's:willy: |

not the same run, but THANKS for a video that VISIBLE:thumbsup:
that car is f-ing sexy!!! imo big deal with what he did... its a freaking goodguys auto-x. its not like he attended a competitive scca event and did that...your auto-x community is safe. fact of life #327= "when you see text below slo z28's tag just remember salt... just a grain of it" ive lived by that for a few years now and its never done me wrong:P |
Thanks ! Well Spoken,,,The LS9 is bad,,,, 3800lb car,,

You know you should really do an event from your west coast Ivory tower because so far you're "way smarter" than the collective """Good Guys""" and """The American Street Car Series""" efforts combined... Just ask anyone, right ROFLMFAO... |
I have been attending GG autox events for years now.If someone really gets out of control Trent will go over and talk to them if he thinks what they did was uncalled for.A hand full of us are serious about this stuff.Attending a goodguys or American streetcar event is way better deal than some Stuffy Whine and cheese SCCA ($60.00 for 4 run's) event. You get way more runs for your money. And Most of us are way FASTER too.
|
Wow!! He didn't know he pissed off the whole Bunch,, Didn't even hit any women or chidren that were on the course???? Haven't talked to him since Sat nite,,, I am so ashamed of him acting like a Alabama Redneck, I might have to move to Georgia,, Maybe not that serious,,Become a Bulldog Fan... Heck, Rammer Jammer, Yellow Hammer, Give-um Hell Alabamer,, But Neal is an Auburn fan,, That's my excuse for him ,til he Man's up,and admits his sins,,

Wow, you give a guy 650 ls9 hp, and my short Alabama cousin who apparently cant drive as well as he thought and the guy gets 3 pages. That 57 had 8600 original miles on it when it was mounted on our chassis. I was unaware small shoes could push a big pedal so far. I will post pics of the car when Im back in the office tomorrow. Im almost home, currently posting from Kingman Az.
|
Ya'll leave my little buddy alone....lol.... If your asses had worked on that car the hours him and his crew had for the last 2weeks you would be out there enjoying the he'll out of it as well. Neil is one of my best friends and I will be the first to tell you That he has ditched a few gm pickups more times than I care to remember ...... That being said he drove that thing like a pro.

I actually do run events from time to time. I prep all the cars, build the course, even change the tires half way though the day because they wear out, and will have 500-750 runs on the same 3 cars without a hitch. There is a difference between having fun and being stupid. At my venue if you go off course there really isn't anything to hit, and you have to pick up the cones you hit yourself so there's no one to piss off. There is a certain amount of respect needed when you're tossing around a $100,000 4500lb sedan at 1G.

If that was the same run, I don't get all the hubbub. It looked more embarrassing than dangerous. In the blurry cell video, and with the comments I read (first), I assumed he had cleared almost every cone on the course, and nearly went through the fence. In this video, it seemed pretty slow and jerky, like he spent almost as much time on the brakes as the loud pedal.
Am I missing something? Edit - I'm not trying to be an azz or start something. I'm really curious because I will make my autocross debut eventually, and would hope for a better "review". :) Is a bit of self control, restraint, composure, etc, more important than the absolute fastest time possible at events like this? |
