So.... Ty Engle was out west --- and he and I and Jason Rushforth spent the afternoon checking out a couple shops. I won't disclose the name or location of this shop... in order to keep it safe... it should be obvious that there are some very special cars here. I'm not even going to identify what they are....:D

that place is SICK. that is only a taste of what is going on there. had a tour last year and only thing you can do is WISH you were in that league

If I'm not mistaken they built this motor in my friends TR 259b.

I stand corrected (which happens a lot actually!) the Ferrari is a 259b....

Just because I'd never heard of that "number" (thought it a typo for the more well known 250) doesn't mean it's wrong.... :wow: :willy: :lol:

It was built in '59 and was modified over the early '59 cars with the 5 speed and dry sump.

I was pretty sure the owner (longtime friend) refered to it as a 259. :(

Either way the motor makes the most wonderful of sounds.

Sorry about the scratch in that ultra rare original Alfa... I think with all the talent in your shop you should be able to buff it out.

BTW -- I think one of my "non" car buddies thought he was being pretty funny dropping that socket in the intake of the motor in the dyno room... Sorry I forgot to mention it - hope you haven't run it yet?!? Oops...

Meant to ask you -- do you really need that many tools to build such simple old cars - I mean -- really... how much shi! do you need? Seems to me like your overhead might be a lot lower without such expensive specialty tools.. but obviously your clients (note you called them that - sounds expensive to me!) don't give a damn.

Is it better to have to many tools and someday have the skill to use them or to not have enough tools and be the master of your trade.....Give me a few minutes and I'll give steve a call and ask him:D :D :lateral:

Love that place! Not many shops have real 427 Cobra bodies gathering dust on a shelf.

I can't imagine the amount of dollars sitting in that place. Was the factory aluminum body race XK still sitting there? That and the weird little Abarth?
I could walk around there all day....And the shop across the street has some nice stuff as well!

I wonder if this would fit in my Firebird? The hood should be long enough and the car was designed after a Ferrari! (Barchetta I believe?) Those stacks would look pretty sweet down the middle of the hood ridge right between the Formula scoops!
