1970 Pro Touring DAR/T

I was nudged into creating a build thread.

So the story goes...

Once upon a time I had a 71 Dart that I turbocharged and was going to do body work on it over the winter. After removing a few panels and fenders, the car was diagnosed with cancer and had 6 months to live.
It was sent down the road and I picked up a cancer free 70 Dart from Arizona to start a new build on.

As you will see this build took and entirely different direction then the last build.

Delivery picture from 6/10

5/11
8 3/4 diff, Large Bolt pattern hubs and wheels, Disc front brakes.

And then the tear down started so it could go on the rotisserie.

Found 2 build sheets.

Back seat.

Been looking all over for a 46RH. Found a few, all but one were to expensive and trashed. Went and checked out the one today at the bone yard but it turned out to be the non lockup version. I did however score a 42RH.
Its not as stout but it should do the job for a few years.

bye bye 904TF, hellow 4 speed OD!

Anyone interested in a K member for a Mopar A body. I HIGHLY recommend getting in contact with HemiDenny on forabodiesonly.com. Been absolutely great to deal with. Product fits perfectly, no massaging, no install issues, the guy knows what he is doing and does it perfectly.

Here is the test panel and multiple pictures so you can see how it changes based on the light.

Loud and obnoxious, just like Ma Mopar liked them.

Took a picture with the good camera. And I still can't capture the color correctly. Cameras have a real hard time with this color.
Even the factory car I got the color from shows up different in every picture I've seen.

3 stage paints are awesome.
Can't wait to see how it shows off the body lines of the hood and the rest of the car.

Fuel pump is mounted.

View from the back side.

Put the Dougs headers in place so I can see where the lines need to run to avoid the exhaust.
I'm pretty dang happy with the headers so far. They fit like a glove and clear the transmission crossmember.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...-14-45_454.jpg

-Freak- 07-24-2012 09:38 AM

Fuel line, transmission lines have been run.
Mounted the line lock and ran some of the brake lines.
I need to remake the one line with stainless and run the front and rear brakes yet.

Great work, keep it up! I like those 315 in the back.

I use to own a '70 Dart, more pro street- / 1/4 racer-style.

I'm going to follow this one...

Feels great being able to sit in the car again and hang onto a steering wheel.

All the way forward.

All the way backward.

What kind of seats and floor brackets did you go with? I like how they slide forward an also how they do not seem too high / close to the roof.

-Freak- 07-26-2012 07:41 AM

Scat Pro Car Elite Lumbar series with the Scat brackets.

Going to have to massage the passenger side bracket.

Buddy works at a body shop. He shot the panel for me, not sure were they source those test panels from.

PPG uses something similar. I think all the paint manufacturers have them for their shops. I like HOK's because it catches the light nicely from different angles.

I love the color, BTW...
