First Time Drag Racing
Well I finally took my car out drag racing. I was very nervous as I have never done it before. I ran just like it runs on the street. Just adjusted tire pressure. First run, at about 10 feet the tranny popped out of gear. Slammed it backin. 13.73 seconds 118 MPH. I was a little disappointed to say the least. Second pass much better, 12.2 at 118 mph. Third time 12.4 with tire spin, again 118 mph. Had a blast will do it agin.

Congrats Mike! Definitely an 11 second car with traction.

That's awesome Mike.
What tires were you running? What was your launch technique? |

Mike, that's very respectable. It's hard to get these protouring cars out of the hole. What was your 60 foot?
|
Mike, that's movin MPH bro--I'd be very happy with that for sure. What was your 60ft time?

I am working on the race car though---are you coming to RTTC in Oct? If so, I may have something more to show you in the garage at that time. BTW--going to need the brakes for the Chicayne---That's all I currenly know for sure. |
Very nice pass for a car that's not ment to leave hard (no offence) I'm guessing your 60' on the 12.2 pass was around 1.69-1.70?
Air up the front tires lower the pressure in the rears, Do a SMALL SMALL BURN OUT (street tires don't like heat) and shallow stage. Maybe make a run at night (cooler weather and track) You'll break into the 11's... I'm kinda a rookie at drag racing though :unibrow: |
Those numbers sound like what I did a blown C5. The car had an early non-intercooled maggie, very small cam, and full exhaust, nothing else. 430hp and 450tq at the wheels through a 6 speed. I'm no drag racer and really didn't do much of anything to prep the car. I was running 12.1s at 119mph in south Georgia heat. Leaving sucked but it sure was fun running on the top end, lol.
Glad you had fun. The car definitely has 11 second power. |

That's about what I expected. I was around 1.95 on an R888.
