1971 Firebird Project opinion...need help!!

I am doing a 1971 Firebird that is going in the "pro touring" direction and I need opinions on an idea I have been kicking around. I love the GTO Judge and think it would be cool to do my Firebird in a Judge related theme....such as "The Jury"....???...."The Verdict"....???....with a nice red or orange paint scheme with a "Judge" like stripe. It would be the Firebirds version of the "Judge". Does this sound like a winner or a weiner???:unibrow: :_paranoid :willy:

I think that would or could be cool! But I would have some renderings done to see how the colors and mods you want to do would look before you start on it from a direction point of view!

If subtly done it has great potential IMO. Investing in renderings would be money well spent. Just don't be held in contempt of court.

Thanks for the feedback! Any suggestions on who I could get to do the rendering? Ihave never had a rendering done....are they very costly?

Try Ben Hermance, he does a lot of firebird/trans am renderings. Outstanding work and a good price.

I remember my neighbor's 69 Judge had "HANGMAN" on his license plate.

Lets see some pictures.

Subtle

IMHO It has to be subtle or it won't work... maybe a "Judge" style stripe down the side and replace the "PONTIAC" lettering on the rear of the car with "VERDICT" or whatever you come up with... a "The Judge" cartoonish decal on the side would ruin it for me. Keep it clean and keep it simple. People will get the pun!

Here's an early render Ben Hermance did for me for my car before everything got out of hand... give him a call and he will take good care of you!!!

Thanks Ty! That rendering is real close to what I had in mind. I was thinking orange, red or black. You don't like the idea of a fender badge? A rendering would sure help me decide. I have seen your car since it was finished and I must say it turned out sweet!! I have an ls engine but thinking about going with a 400 or 455 with a five speed.:lateral:

Opinion

It's just my opinion but I think a cartoonish decal aka "The Judge" would kill the subtle look you are going for. Or are you? :_paranoid

If you want to go the other direction you could do a monicre on the tail panel ala "TRANS AM" that states the project name aka "THE GAVEL" "VERDICT" and do the same above the 71 only fender vents. Just keep them all the same or it gets too busy and confusing.

Just a thought... either way I hope you build it! Still wishing we'd have been able to keep the functional 71-only fender vents on my car...

FWIW I'd love to see someone do a fuel injected LSx Formula with Pontiac baby blue valve covers and a functional Ram Air air cleaner!
