1968 Camaro 468, 5-speed, global west
Hey guys, I just picked up my first Pro Touring styled 68 Camaro. I'm not new to first gen Camaros by any means, but am very new to Pro Touring Styled cars. I will post of some pictures of what I am starting out with and I'll keep you guys updated. The build should move pretty quickly as I am not one to leave new parts sitting in my garage. Keep an eye out for the new kid on the block.
468 BBC with a 750 Carb. Ford 9" rear end with Global west tubular uppers and lowers. Nascar 4-wheels disk Big Brake kit. Ididit tilt column. Custom Welded Roll cage. 14 gallon Fuel cell. Stripped interior. Plan is to remove the roll cage, add full interior, color change the exterior, Get the car to a better stance. Clean up the Engine bay, and clean the under carriage up. Well see if it stops there....haha |

Well come to our crazy world
Nice base to start with, just watch out how many project threads you look at, it will cost you LOTS of cash!! I can tell that from looking at my bank account! :willy: So let me guess your name is James?? We love names around here, so what are your plans so far your car?? |

^^^^^^^^ What he said^^^^^^^^
Nice Camaro, It has additude:thumbsup: |
Nice solid plan, will see how long you keep that first draft
I'm with Dave keep the cage for now! |
I apprciate the input, but I already cut most of the cage out and am working on the grinding tomorrow. If I do decide to go with a roll cage, I am a bolt in guy, I am not into the perminent modifications as of yet. I know that will hurt me in the end ( When I go through 50 sets of wheels, and 10 different looks of interior, and my credit cars get maxed out) but I like to be able to change the look as easily as possible. When this dynomat gets here, I will get started on the interior and the project should move quickly. I have everything else for the interior.
What Modifications are needed to use an 05 GTO center console with otherwise stock interior? |
Welcome... gotta good foundation there. Looking forward to seeing things evolve.
A lot of great guys here. I have learned a ton and the information has been invaluable. Good luck! |

[QUOTE=compos mentis;431219]You may want to re-post that question under the interior/electrical section of this site.
Thank you Sir, ill ask there. Still getting used to the different sections |
Some Work Down.. More to go!
As of today, the cage is out, The car is Dyno matted, and Carpet is done. The Gto center Console is installed, (although it needs to be added onto to get it more flush with the dash). The Rear seats were added in, they are just standard 68 Camaro seats, The Front Buckets are some Nice summit imitation Leather.
Im getting close to getting here finished with first phase cosmetics. Once the door panels get here and are installed. The car will head to Paint. When It gets back, I am going to Reroute the engine bay wiring and give it a flush look. I'll post some pics when I can. |
Some more done
Interior is almost to where I want it. Just deciding if I want any audio equipment or not. Just ordered a custom shift boot, and the trim for the gto console to cover the trans tunnel. Had to grind some pieces away from the standard GTO console in order to get it to sit right on the trans tunnel. Interior is getting to where I'm almost content. As soon as the seats are bolted down and I get the console how I want it, I'll post some pictures.

What do you guys use to coat the inside of your trunk?
What sort of spray do you recommend for the coating inside your trunk to have a good look and a good coat?

Almost through with Paint
Car will be out of Paint on Wed.
Then back to installing the finishing touches on the interior. She is coming along good, I'll post some pictures ASAP |
