70 chevelleSS

Now before you look at the pics keep a open mind. ive been told that im stupid, im discrsing the car by doing this and all kinds of things, but its my car and im doing it my way. and yes i do like opinions and feel free to leave yours.. thanks! the car is a 70 chevelle SS. front suspention is global west upper and lower control arms, B-body spindles, 1 1/4 sway bar, air-ride shockwaves, and 13.5 wilwood brakes. the rear is simple with a 12 bolt, adj. upper control arms, boxed lower control arms and a sway bar. now where i lose people. Intro Matrix 19 and 22in rims front and rear, with dunlop tires. the dash is fiberglassed off the factory piece and uses 2 5in gauges and 4 2 5/8th gauges. in the middle of the 2 5in gauges is a shift light and to the far right is a 7 in monitor molded flush into the dash. under that a space has been molded to house my reciver. its a work in progress yes and im hopping to get it done shortly, but here are the pics, thanks for reading, and please leave your opinion.....

first the paint...

the back still can come down a few more inches, just the rims making contact with the quarter and i gotta trim it.. i got more if you want them.

XcYZ 02-08-2005 12:44 PM

That looks great!! More pics, please!

slownova 02-08-2005 12:51 PM

my concole which is kinda hard to see in these pics is also a peice made off the factory one. its painted the color of the car and has a 2 5/8th gauge molded into it also. im useing a clock there becouse of the 66-67 chevelles having one and the fact autometer makes one that matches the rest im using :) and yes the car is a 4 speed big block car..

The car looks absolutely gorgeous! I see nothing wrong with it.

Keith 02-08-2005 11:53 PM

Yep, 70 Chevelles are king. I'm glad to see more people molesting them as I got a pretty good ass-chewing myself at Team Chevelle for cutting into mine. These cars have the potential to be awesome G-Machines. I love your car as I loved it before when you posted photos of it. I wanna see those valve covers! I alos like what you did with the dash and console. We are also using a dash based off an original SS but we're doing a one-off console as well. Welcome

slownova 02-09-2005 12:00 AM

team chevelle deleted my posts about the car. :(

XcYZ 02-09-2005 06:57 AM

They deleted your posts?? Was there a huge war over what you're doing or what?

Anyways, I see you're from Omaha, that's pretty cool, somewhat close to me. Think you'll have it at the Car Craft Summer Nats in St. Paul?

I think the car looks great, keep the pics coming.

protouring70 02-09-2005 07:54 AM

70's are beautiful!

I think it's going to turn out awesome. Great compliments with dash and console.

well it kinda went like, here is my car, people saying why, i say why not, thread locked, deleted, and i can't log back in :willy: so maybe it was a sever error? lol. and yes if i can drive somewhere in 8 hours or less for a big show, the car will be there. and i will be at the nats in st. paul

BC69 02-09-2005 11:54 AM

I think it looks awesome! That paint color is really nice. Keep us posted with pictures, love to see how the finished product looks.

funny that you say that lol. one day i was sorta upset and said i was gonna start a company called outkast customs becosue no one likes what im building haha  :D

mhr 02-09-2005 01:20 PM

I know what you mean at TC. Although I wont get locked out a few people didnt like what we were doing to what they precieved to be a numbers match SS convert, which was far from the truth. They didnt like it being non stock anymore. I like stock restorations as well as the next guy but can appreciate the work going into a PT type car. Your 70 looks real nice.

see brian it's money. Outkast Customs would rock the house. he doesnt even know you and still labeled and spelled it right.
oh yeah a bit off subject but $10

Vince@Meanstreets 02-09-2005 05:52 PM

tough crowd...

Don't let them bother you, some just have big rim envy, i really don't care for the look but its your taste and your car.Beut btw. You have done really nice work and do keep it up. I can't believe you got booted for that...defending your personality...welcome to a nicer place. Vin

sinned 02-09-2005 06:02 PM

TC is a much different place, very politically correct and intolerant of differing veiws. I get yelled at A LOT.

I didn't see your thread at PT, I wouldn't think you get any guff over there, I think it looks nice. Not my rough and nasty style but if I ever get old and want a nice car to drive it may look something like that. :D

slownova 02-09-2005 06:16 PM

Not to steal the thread or insult you, but this question should be asked at a street rod site. You are now out of Pro-touring and building a street rod. Pro-touring is to increase cornering perfomance, not degrade it like you with those large wheels.

was a comment taken from Pro-touring when asked about my brakes. :willy:

wickedmotorhead 02-09-2005 06:25 PM

 HOLY $H!#*...car's still looking sweet. Build it how you like it man. I absolutely love your dash and console. Who made those and would they be willing to do another dash like that? I have been looking for something just like that...I dig it big time. Any person that thinks they can take "Pro Touring" and claim it as their own with their own definition can %^(*&(&^&*%^$%&@!!!!!! I'm sick of this crap that people are opening their mouth and spitting out poop all over people's cars. Your car is bitchin' and you know it so go with that. Im glad I finally got to see a pic of the full car with the rims...it looks sick. I look forward to see more pics.

slownova 02-09-2005 06:31 PM

it can be repoduced yes, but it won't be cheap.. alot of time in that to get all those curves as u can imagine. i think about 20 hours into it.... want one?

zbugger 02-09-2005 06:47 PM

I still like your car. I think I said that before in the P-T.com chat room. I may not be a fan of the 20" wheel thing, but it looks good on your car. Build it the way you like it. I have a bug bumper Camaro that not many people like. Hell, even the guys at NastyZ28.com bag on those cars. Do I care? No. I'm building it for myself. If people don't like it, they can suck on themselves. There are people out there that appreciate many different things. Like the 22" wheels and spinners on a 1984 Cutlas with a body lift. To each his own. I just wish I could see your car in person. That thing still looks bad ass.

slownova 02-09-2005 06:51 PM

thanks for the complements everyone.. this site really is cool. i know everyone has thier own opinions, and i like that. i don't let what people say to me bring me down, just makes me want to finish it more and more. i do like everyones opinions like ive stated before. i plan on taking the car around alot, so maybe you will see it

camcojb 02-09-2005 06:54 PM

Good attitude and very nice car. Don't ever let people get you down. Hang out here for a while!

Just a bit curious who made those comments on PT?

Jody

slownova 02-09-2005 06:58 PM

baz67 has and usazr1 has made a few also. :_paranoid

camcojb 02-09-2005 07:00 PM

What name do you post on over there?

slownova 02-09-2005 07:01 PM

Ok brian you need to stop and think about this. if you drive this masterpiece i'm going to trout slap you :P

camcojb 02-09-2005 07:07 PM

Got it. They were fairly gentle, didn't see anything negative from ZR-1 though. At any rate, you cannot please everyone and it's your car so do what YOU like. I've had guys dump on my cars too and at first I took it personally. But you quickly learn it's not worth it.

67Sally 02-09-2005 07:42 PM

You have a very nice project underway. If you could post any picts of the dash build up that would be great.

slownova 02-09-2005 07:47 PM

that i don't have. maybe if wicked SS wants one i can take some :)

XcYZ 02-09-2005 08:09 PM

Slownova, (I take it your name is Brian), I love all kinds of cars. Hardcore road racing, 100% pure restorations, trailer queens, chassis dyno kings, drag and oval racing... you name it. This website is about building cars - the build and engineering is what really interests me. If you want to put 20" wheels on your ride, more power to you. The way I see it, unless someone is paying you to put their parts on your car, they have no say in how it should be built. Each of us knows exactly how we want our cars to be and we all know the struggles it takes to get there.

There's a big difference between criticism and constructive criticism. Personally, I think your Chevelle looks great. Kudos to you.

Very well said Scott.I think one of the best things about Lateral-g.net is that there are no attitudes here.Just a bunch of guys who like cars
