69 NOMARO Project
While ago I ran across a rendition that Brian Stupski from PCK did of a 69 NOVA/69 CAMARO project and thought it was pretty down right cool. I know you NOVA guys are going to think what to a NOVA but it will be OK.
My goal was to find a nice car to start with and it had to have a vinyl top and not a bucket of bolts. I located this Yellow car in Oakland Hills CA and got it home to see how this would all work out. Here is the start. Rendition by PCK. http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps52ca9f2e.jpg Here is the nice car we are going to start with. Yellow with black guts. 350/350 AC car. I did have to throw some wheels on it as the yellow 14" with hub caps an beauty rings did not cut it for the pictures. http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...pse1b406cb.jpg Now the teardown to see if this will all work. I ordered all the AMD 69 RS Camaro parts to build this. http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...psfba471c8.jpg Now the moment of truth,, Kenny said there is no way it will bolt up! http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps82227c5b.jpg Fenders and core support all bolted right on and fitting pretty good. The grill will be the next challenge. http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9898d402.jpg After 4 hours of work in the garage we have a complete RS front end on the project and the lights and everything are working and ready to drive to the Goodguys event in Pleasanton CA. http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/...ps64bc664b.jpg So the next step is to graft the 69 Camaro door skin to a 73 Nova Door so we do not have a wing window. We also will replace the Inner/Outer wheel house with the Camaro one and DSE Mini Tub and put the partial 69 Camaro Quarter. This project will get an LT4 engine with FAST fuel Injection on a Carb intake so we can use the cowl air cleaner so it all looks stock. It will have updated suspension and Budnik ICE wheels. PPG is working on the paint color but it will be close to the new KIA Blue that is out right now with the White Pearl Yenko stripe with NOMARO on it. Stay tune for more updated !!! And Kenny it all bolted right on!!!! |
Wow, this will be an interesting build to follow along with.
|
A few of us saw the car at this weekend's GG in Pleasanton and rreally did not know what to think. It is definitely creating some buss on local discussions and forums so that is an interesting start :)
Promising rendering, a fastback Camaro woudl be a fun ride, but still debating, maybe a satin black paint on the rest of the body will make it easy on the eyes for those more visual like me :) What are the plans with the rear section, taillights, etc? Interested in seeing the next steps ;) |
That's freaking cool! I love that it's getting an LT4. I love LT engines. What intake are you planning to run with the LT4 heads?
|
I dunno...props for thinking outside the box though!

Thanks for checking this out.. Goodguys Ed |
Ed, yep, honestly alum woudl be killer, but since you will likelly be chopping them steel is much easier to work on.
I give kudos on going forward with this. I normally like doing body mods on my cars but go with more subtle stuff :) One suggestion is to get rid of the RS\SS light covers some Pics Chris took (hope he does not mind me linking): http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...jsstuff191.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...jsstuff193.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...jsstuff194.jpg |
I'm not sure I'm feeling it  But I will hold judgment until its finished!

I reMember when Brian drew that, Glad to see it come together
|
I saw that this weekend and my first thought was...oh wow, I have a Camaro that needs a front section and a Nova that needs are rear section...wonder if its for sale. :D

Very interesting!
Shiny Side Up! Bill |
I'll say it....
It's just wrong. |
I like it !! I have to admit ..when i first read "problem child" in the title, I thought this thread was going to be about Greg  ;)
|
So glad I opened this thread. I was just thinking "Oh please not another Camaro project. What else could you possibly do to one?" You have officially exceeded my already inflated expectations. :wow:
SUBSCRIBED. |

I really like the rendering. But when I look at the car that is all wrong color wise and the trim on the body really screws up the perspective of the what has to be done to make it look like the rendering. The yellow and black and side trim make it look way thinner then reality.
We will have to see what kind of miracles we can work to pull this task off. |
There's a photo of what could be done to it, in the email of the stolen car (black Mopar) that's floating around....:D

Snorkelstang... is that you?
(J/K! :P , I'm sure it will be awesome when it's fully hashed out!) Jeff- |
Ed told me about the Nomaro on Friday, and it sounded "interesting." Then he showed up with it on Saturday. I can honestly say it looks a lot better when you see it in person....... And I know it will look even better once the car is sitting at proper ride height.
Hats off to Ed for building this. It really is pretty cool when people have the courage to build an imaginary car that someone rendered as a "what-if" concept! I look forward to seeing this being built. --Eric |
You may as well get thick skin now because the ridicule will never end. Whatever floats your boat.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...-26-21_131.jpg I think if you get rid of the vent window, the perspective will start to change. Roger if you can come close to the rendering, it should be a neat project. Looking forward to seeing it come along. |

Well -- you know I'm poking you and Rodger... Just take the money you're going to waste and make a deal for the '62. |
It looks like you started with a Ventura. If that's the case niether a Nova or Camaro were harmed during this experiment. I like the rendering but I'm not so sure how its going to look live and in person. I'm rooting for you Ed. I hope it comes out good.
|
Just thinking out loud here.......
But if you are changing the entire nose, the door skins and the better part of the quarters. Then also putting Camaro taillights in to. Wouldn't it be easier to adapt the Nova roof and trunk to a Camaro? I still like where this is going though. Glenn |

Why the vinyl roof. The car needs a small wing and exhaust out the rockers
|
No doubt Rodger and the crew can build it...but just because you can doesn't mean you should.:_paranoid
How's about stickin it on a Blazer chassis with some big ol mudders, yeeeeehaaaw! Dan |
Last year I bought a nice Nova and all the sheet metal to do this. But was afraid my skin wasn't thick enough for what I would hear.Glad to see it getting done.
|
I like it, this is the forum where you need the thick skin!!!!

so if it turn out like that im gonna love it, but also LOVE that render from and older camaro performer of a 69 camaro yenko station wagon so my opinion is a lil off from the norm.:_paranoid |
