Field Find

So I've got a friend that just inherited an old chicken farm and behind the last barn there is about 60 classics sitting out in the field. She hasn't gone in the barn where there is more cars because of snakes...lol she's scared of them. Can anyone tell me what the car in the 1st picture is? She told me I can come and pull a couple if I'd like too, I'm just trying to find the gems...lol Any help IDing any of them would be helpful.

tell your friend to get them all titled and sell them off. part em out too, a lot of hard to find parts but the hard part is finding the guys that need them.

Her father loved buick's. She told me to come pull what I want.I've got my eye on a few but these pictures are only a couple out of the 60 vehicles out there. So I've got to get out there and look at everything the only issue now is I'm in Germany for another 8 months.

burntnova 09-11-2012 04:58 AM

Instead of posting mor epictures of the cars she has I'll just post the link to my photobucket.

I would so rock that '57. Looks solid. I like mid 50's buicks and oldsmobiles.

Buick's are Great Cars and you don't see them everywhere as they were the GM line just Underneath the Caddy's.

They were very well built and expensive to buy.

That is a great collection of cars. With a little finesse I be you could find some Buick people that would give most of them a good home.

Parts are a bitch to find however there are a number of those that appear fairly complete.

She's a lucky girl.

If you get to where you or she is gonna sell em or part em the jolopy journal would be a good audience for that kind of stuff.

Love those old buicks:thumbsup:

Don't know yet! She is affraid of snakes and doesn't want to venture in there. I'm in Germany for another 8 months but I'm trying to get my wife to let me take a trip to get more pictures & VINS and get in that barn.

I've been getting all kinds of emails from people wanti ng the trim or misc things off the cars already. Once she decides it's time to sell them. i'm going to be helping her pull them outso it's much easier to pick them up and nobody is messing her property up.

I'm trying to get a flight out from Germany back to the states in the next week or two so I can find out and get more pictures of everything out there.

Well I'll be in IL my new home here in the next 2 weeks then I'll be heading to the farm to take more detailed pictures and get Vin numbers off of everything at the farm.

Any advice on what I need to get off the vehicles to help with the research?

I also added a few pictures to my photobucket, check them out and leave comments if you'd like.

I've added a few more pictures of the cars at my friends farm and a few pictures of what's awaiting inside the barn. UI should be making a trip to the farm in about 3 weeks to get more & better pictures and hopefully the vins off most of them so I can better ID each vehicle.

Any words of wisdom, such as what I need to look for or write down while I'm down there on each vehicle. i was just going to take better picture and get VINs.

How cool is this!!!

Sadly the gentleman might have liked old cars --- but he certainly didn't do them any favors letting 'em sit out and just rot away. I never do understand that. Why not just have a couple and have them restored to as new - and go drive and love 'em...

clill 05-13-2013 06:18 AM

Maybe he kept the best ones out of the weather in the barn.

Yea, a 1957 Roadmaster ragtop and a zero-mile GNX!!! :D

burntnova 05-13-2013 12:38 PM

What is so confusing to me is she has plenty of money to get a few if not more of them restored. But I'm going to do my best to save a couple of them and let them live again.

hp2 05-13-2013 03:11 PM

I would think getting tires that hold air under any of them, then listing them for sale would be a lot easier than picking and parting. Heck, scrap value alone would mean most of these are worth at least a grand, so if she ebayed them with a no reserve, $2000 starting price, you could watch where they go from there. With 60 cars at just $2k, she could raise $120k without even trying. Given the completeness of some of these, chances are at least a few would go for double that for their pieces and parts. However, unless she is into it, I'd avoid parting them out on her own. Sell em whole, let the prices fall where they may.

burntnova 05-14-2013 12:07 AM

Once i get down there and see exactly what i'll be working with. We're going to come up with a game plan. I told her there is a few different ways we can go about selling them since she think their all just junk...:confused59: I'm trying to help her understand that there are some peices on those cars that are hard to find, but selling them is definately something I'm going to do for her.

burntnova 10-14-2013 05:47 PM

Ok guys, Now that I'm settled into our new place in Southern IL. I'm headed to my friends farm to get more intel on all these classics she has. Besides getting VIN's and taking pictures is there anything else I should look for or document?

Vince@Meanstreets 10-14-2013 06:16 PM

paper work?

burntnova 10-14-2013 06:22 PM

She has the keys & titles for all 62 classics at the farm! Other then the titles idk what other paperwork she might have.

glassman 10-14-2013 07:20 PM

This will be my first trip to the farm this weekend. You better bet I will be going in that barn to scope it out. I've got a few pictures of a couple corners of the barn and it's all motors & transmissions laying around.

Shmoov69 10-14-2013 09:40 PM

Make sure you got enough memory in your phone or camera!! LoL!

cluxford 10-14-2013 09:48 PM

go to www.v8buick.com

tell your friend after you've got what you want she should advertise everything else up there, it will all be sold for a healthy profit in a heartbeat

if i was better cashed up I'd be buying a few of those...solid project cars...

intocarss 10-14-2013 10:47 PM

Open the barn Open the barn!!!! What a cool find!!

burntnova 10-20-2013 06:40 PM

Well he sold everything out of the barn besides the Engine & trans that are sitting in there. Here is a link to the 114 pics I took at the farm this weekend. Feel free to comment on the pictures, I'm looking at pulling one or two to restore or rod out!
