Goodnight

Musclerodz 02-08-2005 06:37 PM

Reminds me of a Pro-Street without the GMC blower sticking out of the hood. I was not to impressed with the build so far from what they showed last Friday.

Is it me or is the roll cage gone? I think the car came out good

camcojb 02-08-2005 07:20 PM

You telling me that Nelson delivered an engine ON TIME! :D

I'll call you tomorrow, Jody. ;)

jonny51 02-08-2005 07:57 PM

Scott, any idea who makes that manifold?

XcYZ 02-08-2005 08:02 PM

Jon, it's a fabricated manifold made for the tall deck. I'm guessing it's a Hogan's, but I can find out for sure.

jonny51 02-08-2005 09:00 PM

Thanks Scott,I am getting to the point where I need a manifold.

Thanks Jody,I have visited that site many of times.I think I will have to give them a call tomorrow. :unibrow:I like the stealth ram but I don't really think it goes with the rest of my motor.

907rs 02-08-2005 09:54 PM

That's going to be one hell of a ride! Thanks for sharing Scott.

BC69 02-09-2005 10:38 AM

I agree that it looks awesome, but if I were the owner and watching the recent American Hot Rod episodes, I would be pissed. The guys in the shop just bash this guys dream ideas, and I just thought it was really disrespectful.

Nice Pics Scott.

Tim

Doh!

Any chance you could fanagle your way into getting a ride there Scott?

Put your bib and diaper on - for sure!

New Dyno

I guess Nelson must have gotten a new dyno because the one that Charley told me about had some thing to do with an Autometer tach screwed to a desk and one of the old style setups with the big needle that goes around.

The motor looks awesome I wouldn’t mind one in my car if I could afforded it.

Just thought I would drop a little inside info on you guys. The Corvette was started in Boyds shop almost 2 years ago. It was put on hold for a while why they started the tv series but then work progressed. They filmed for about 6 months of the build to get the stuff they wanted for tv but the build still continues on the car. It should be completed by first of March.
As for all the stupid stuff they show on tv, well, they think they need to create drama for the regular tv viewers. Items such as the rear cage interferring with the tires and affecting ride height was actually addressed and changed even though they chose not to show that on tv.
The finished car speaks for itself. It is one awesome machine.

trapin 02-18-2005 12:56 PM

I don't care much for those old Pro-Street cars, but it looks nice.

I'd rather have 'Crazy Horse' instead.

Nice engine though....I'd kill to have THAT sucker!

TwinSting 02-18-2005 04:46 PM

Trapin,
What makes you call it an old pro-street car? Nelson twin turbo all aluminum sbc with G-Force 5 speed trans, independent quick change rear end, 235 17 on front and 30 - 16.5 x 17 on the rear. Full interior of suede and leather with hidden complete cage. Seems more pro-touring then pro-street.

XcYZ 02-18-2005 06:04 PM

TwinSting, I think the car is awesome. I for one would love to see A LOT more of it.

trapin 02-18-2005 08:27 PM

You know something...I should probably retract my previous comments. I just got done watching the final episode of it being finished and I gotta say, I think the car is killer.

TwinSting, I'll have to agree with you, it does look like it falls more in the area of Pro-Touring than Pro-Street. I guess the big fat tires on the back threw me off.

Musclerodz 02-18-2005 08:44 PM

It still looks Pro-Street to me, just a little more refined. What did they do to fix the cage interference with the rear tubs? Looks like a waste of time and money to powdercoat the chassis and final assemble the car only to take it 100% apart again to get it right. It has to have no suspension travel the way those tubs are done.

Mike

zbugger 02-18-2005 08:54 PM

Call it what you want, but I call it modern Pro-Street. That's what it's come to. The thing is, I like it. It seems like more of a show car, but I would love to be seen as a passenger in that thing. Nice car, but not Pro-Touring. I'd love to see the handling on that thing.

Payton King 02-21-2005 10:51 AM

Vette

TwinSting,

Great car! I am suprised at all of the people weighing in on the car here and on pro-touring. You have to love having a car that really blurs the lines on street/race and pro tour/pro street. I think the wheel size on the rear is what is throwing people off from the pro-touring theme, however, with the kind of power you are making you really have no choice but to run a tire that large to even make and attempt to get that much power to the ground.

To me, that is the coolest vette out there. I thought that body style would be great for a pro-tourer after playing "Grand Turismo" 6 years ago. Glad to see people like you pushing the envelope.

Are you going to make the show circuit and then drive it or is it pretty much gong to stay a show piece? I can only imagine the investment it took.

Payton

TwinSting 02-21-2005 09:56 PM

Thanks for all the comments on my car. Very soon I will post some pictures and more info on the complete car. I know I am pushing the envelope of pro-touring and pro-street but I feel that is hot rodding. The big rear tires are only 16 wide not the big 18 or 21 M/T Sportsmans of yesteryears prostreet. I actually am working with M/T on their new Radial tire that we debuted at SEMA this year which will come in several widths and accept a 20" diameter rear wheel!! Should be on the car in the next couple months and available to the public by July. As soon as I take delivery of the car in the next few weeks I will also let you all know how it drives and performs. The car should handle well with the independent front and rear suspension. I will also have to put some highway and town miles on it to figure what gears will work best in the quick change rear end with the G-Force 5 speed and all that torque and horsepower.
Thanks again for all the comments and no offense is taken to others opinions as I think we all feel we would do something different to each others cars if they were ours. That is what makes them unique!

DCreations 02-21-2005 10:11 PM

twinsting,

I was wondering how tall you were? I remember when watching the show you were getting test fitted and it seemed like you needed more room. car looked great on the show!!!

907rs 02-21-2005 10:27 PM

Shaun, pics would be great, but for a car like yours, I think we need video!

Congrats, nice ride!

I could not have said it any better myself. I hope it drives as good as it looks.

F70T/A- I am 6'6". We actually extended the fire wall to give me extra leg room. Now I fit great!

BC69 02-22-2005 08:15 AM

TwinSting, I gotta ask, were you bothered at all by some of the crews reaction. I love the way the cars turned out, and praise you for doing what others didnt and pushing the envelope like you did. But I was kind insulted that the entire shop wasnt behind you, or maybe it was the producers just playing that up. Just curious, but the car awesome either way.

Tim

jonny51 02-22-2005 08:56 AM

I think I said this before***Goodnight  ***

Very nice ride indeed

TwinSting 02-22-2005 04:46 PM

Most all of he negative drama was hype brought on my film crew and then editing process. I made a few comments after seeing show but after they all have seen the almost finished car they see what I was going for.

907rs 02-22-2005 07:45 PM

Shaun, do you still have the '65 Impala that was in Super Chevy a few years ago?

And one more time........................

Dude, that 'vette is killer! :hail:
