Another cool build in the works. I see the corner of the blue 67 Chevelle in the one pic. Any updates on it?

Very cool build. What about paint? Are the plans to keep it simple maybe even leave the current paint alone? To me, the color works with the car and would look good.
|
R-S Gang,as alway's over the top.the trans tunnel is so cool.
|
Now that will be fun, if you guys need any help with the running side let me know as we have done a bunch of LS-9 Cars here and they are super fun to work with.
|
Wow, that looks great. What a way to update an old ride.
|
|
Cool build, sure it is nice to start with a clean example rather than the typical rusted buckets most projects start out as. That thing is going to supprise a few on the streets.
One day I hope to have the $$ to have RS build a car for me, stunning work as usual.:hail: |
I need to win the lottery!
|
Looks awesome!
I was curious what you were going to do with the rear floor, I did the same on my Brougham. Not much else you can do since that rear floor drops clear down to the the bottom of the rockers. With the IRS and wheels/tires that big can you just unbolt the shock and swaybar to drop the spindle down enough to get the wheel on? |

...or have the body hinge like a funny car... The Broughham is looking great BTW! |
Just purchased a similar car.......
Looking forward to going to school on this one.

This is 1 bad ride love it. And your shop builds work of art frames .it a sin to put a body over them:thumbsup:

Couple more updates on the big Biscayne!

Very nice, as there aren't many of these big cars on the road period, yet alone done all up in top notch quality and ready to roll. :wow: :wow:
|
Damn good work you do RS :hail: , hope have some nice idea to change Corvette logo on LS9 engine to Biscayne or Roadster Shop logo.

A few more pics of some recent work and ideas for where it is heading!
The underhood work continues with the addition of the cowl to duct air out from the coolers to a vent in the inner fender. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8189/8...6cf3e154_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8044/8...f270effc_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8046/8...0d11f1ba_b.jpg Cleaning up the appearance of the core support area: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8187/8...8f22b956_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8336/8...796bae6b_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8328/8...dd24790a_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8475/8...d868613c_b.jpg |
Next, fab work begins on two tanks located on the other fender for the heat exchanger coolant and radiator/exchanger overflow:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8468/8...248643bc_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8183/8...fa857b21_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8332/8...72bd2394_b.jpg The overall plan for the build is really an enhancement and tightening up of the original GM lines. With the car coming from an era that many feel is really the heyday of GM styling, we thought it right to really let the lines speak for themselves. We are still experimenting with a few colors, but them main vibe would be heading toward a more elegant color scheme, graphite gray or similar to the VW 'United Gray' with perhaps brushed nickel trim. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8053/8...c20c3669_b.jpg Some of the 'tweaks' would include moving the door handle mechanism to become part of the trim running down the side of the vehicle and tightening up the bumpers to the body, removing the seams on both and potentially re-working the side quarter emblem in a new style and flush with the body. We always felt the two taillights on the Biscayne (unlike the three on the Impala) looked a little like an afterthought - the spacing always just looked 'wrong'. One concept would be re-positioning them and adding some more detail to the tailpanel. We also wanted to try a more bold concept with a wider single taillight lens on each side occupying the space on the tail panel, filling out the large blank space and leaning more towards the 'jet age' styling of the rest of the car. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8193/8...a7df1d09_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8052/8...b2e76fc3_b.jpg |
Wow, that is pretty sick. Love the "hidden" doorhandles!

I just don't know what to say, I guess I'm speechless.............:hail: :hail: :hail:

With the tank under the hood complete, we can move onto the bumpers.
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8478/8...b9baa2da_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8197/8...868ed667_b.jpg With no radical body mods planned, much of the focus will be on the fit finish and refinement of the existing features. For example, removing the seams from the 3 piece bumper and blending it into one piece. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8484/8...f94667b1_b.jpg Tucking these bumpers closer to the body to look 'correct' requires a couple extra steps due to the side profile shape of the bumper against the body. The existing area on the fender is removed near the top edge of the bumper and we made a new piece to add a feature line to 'cheat' the body out to meet the bumper. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8337/8...41cca1b1_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8346/8...f97741dc_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8061/8...73e8c76f_b.jpg |

More great work from the 'Skillz-R-Us team.

Time for a bit of an update...After completing the bumpers, we were at a point where we could begin to head toward some of the other custom elements on the car. After much discussion, the owner came to a decision that he was set on keeping the original paint and overall integrity of the exterior as you see it. Many of the touches we were planning as the next step (door handles, trim mods etc) in the build would have to take a back seat in order to do this. Thankfully we were at a point where we could begin to head toward completion 'as-is'.
(Plus with an LS9, IRS Biscayne dangling infront of him, we can imagine he was dying to just drive it! :D ) To the pics!
