Brian's '67 FAST TRACK Chevelle at the Roadster Shop
Another one from the general updates thread that probably deserves it's own thread now...
Brian's '67 arrived as a really clean body shell with plans for a fairly 'traditional' appearing Chevelle on the outside, but with the internals of a well detailed and highly capable pro-touring A-body. For the interior, as mentioned, the owner wanted to keep it fairly traditional looking but with some areas freshened up and modernised. The dash retains the stock Chevelle shape and feel but with a couple of subtle touches to set it apart while still looking fairly 'correct'. We decided to run a full concave section from left to right with the gauges protruding from the surface. Quick sketch of the concept:

Beautiful as always! I got a tour of the shop a couple of weeks ago from Phil when Rob was in town to see his Ford. What an awesome place and great car guys! Phil spent the better part of hour with me showing me the place from front to back, I got to see some of the upcoming projects that will be hitting the shows next summer WOW :wow: Is all I can say. Even invited me to lunch :faint: And I wasn't buying anything just came to check out the place and to meet up with Rob!!! Thanks again Phil for the time you took from your busy day to show me around! These guys get it!!!

UPDATE: I figured it out -- It appears to be from Detroit Speed.
What wiper motor is that I've seen in several of the GM RS builds? I'm looking for ideas on relocating or just cleaning up the wiper motor on the 71 Cutlass Supreme my son and I are working on. |

It has been a few months since the last update on Brian's 67 Chevelle. We have made a good amount of progress on the build and it is just about ready to head over for body work. Here is a look at what we have been up to on this build.
Started with the bumpers and wanted a cleaner, smoother look with out veering too far off from stock. (At the request of the great Kenny Davis, they will be chrome.) The stock bumpers on these cars fit like.... they were made for a different car. They hang a few inches out past the body and really do not follow the rest of the lines on the car too well. They are tight in some areas and have large gaps in others. They are high in some areas and low in others. Again, trying to keep a smoothed stock look. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture225811.jpg Another problem with the 66-67 Chevelles is that the bumper is too short and you end up seeing a lot below it. In this case it is the radiator, core support, and dry sump tank. There was a considerable amount of work required to get it to fit close to the body and follow the lines it should. It was narrowed, raised, and brought in closer to the rear body. The corners were completely re-worked so the peaks were brought inline with the tail lights. Material was also added to maintain a consistent gap from the top of the bumper to the bottom or the car.

To smooth out the side of the car, the customer chose to eliminate the lock cylinders and use Kindig It's flush mounted smooth door handles

Also finished up a lot of the smaller jobs to get it ready for the body work phase.
Mounted the Peterson Dry Sump Tank and fabbed stainless upper and lower hoses to the Ron Davis radiator. Great work! Did you guys work with OE bumpers or repops? Just curious because my OE bumpers aren't in great shape. Planning to rechrome anyway so maybe repops with some fab work to improve fitment is better route.

We finished up the remaining metal work and added a few more details. The customer picked up the car about a year ago to complete the body/paint/assembly at a body shop in Canada, closer to him. We would have loved to finish the car, but we were pretty far apart on the body/paint budget and goals. Sometimes it is better to part ways on good terms rather than head down a road where you know that both parties will be upset with the end product.
