Wacky 70's Volare/Aspen Kit Race Car
Look what I stumbled onto.....
http://www.race-cardrivers.com/Chrys...Trans%20Am.htm The link is really that long. You might need to copy/paste for it to work right. Here's the pic. These cars were sold as kits by Chrysler. Scan the whole page for the old school "kit" ads. Here's a coupla pics. Who woulds thunk that a Volare would make a killer, cheap starter car for a pro-touring project? http://www.race-cardrivers.com/Images/rt%20fr%20qtr.jpg http://www.race-cardrivers.com/Image...rear%20qtr.jpg |
That's pretty bad ass. Too bad you can't get stuff like that for a reasonable price from GM, Porsche or others brands these days. I know they have the BIW chassis, but this thing was a race car in a box. The ads are pretty cool too. $8k new? It's probably more than that now!

Wow that is really cool.

That looks pretty dang cool. I love that it was available directly from Chrysler. That's probably the neatest thing about them.

I'd rock it

Porsche has made it so that developing a GT car from scratch is dumb. Ford Racing has it figured out with the Boss 302R turn-key package for GS. racing You can literally just unwrap these cars and do basic set-up. No fab work. I could not find a pic of an out-of-the-box 302R. http://www.thetorquereport.com/911_gt3_rsr.jpg |
That's hot!

Here is a picture from the web of the street version. Find one in good condition and do some creative fab on those bumpers and you got yourself a pretty unique car. Modern Hemi?

I used to have a 77 Volare roadrunner. I'll post pics one day. Don't see many around any more. Must have all got crushed.

This is the one I had way back when. It actually ended up a little lower, than shown in the pictures with widened Dodge rallye rims

That's awesome!! Diggin the stance! LOL! Are those truspokes? I can't tell from the pic. Really, I'd love to have an old 74 Camaro I used to have. All flared out late 70's style!! Your duster had some power tho!!
